For Wenlong, building a simple protective shelter to survive in the wilderness was hardly difficult.
It would help ward off surprise attacks by wild beasts at night, and at the very least, shield him from wind and rain.
Wenlong deftly selected thick branches and trimmed them with the Longsword he carried.
He drove them firmly into the ground as supports, then lashed them together with vines to build a frame.
Next, he found broad leaves and grass mats to cover the frame, giving his simple shelter its first rough shape.
As dusk fell, Wenlong had just crawled into the shelter to rest when he suddenly heard a low growl outside.
He tightened his grip on the Longsword warily and peered through a gap. An enormous brown bear was slowly approaching.
The brown bear's eyes gleamed fiercely in the darkness. It seemed to have detected a human presence here; the human scent must have drawn it over.
Wenlong's heart raced, but he forced down his fear and considered how to respond. He remembered that bears generally would not attack humans unprovoked, so he only needed to avoid angering it.
He therefore tried not to make a sound, hiding motionless inside the shelter.
The brown bear circled the shelter several times. Finally, seemingly unable to find a way in, it ambled away.
Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, grateful that his shelter had kept danger at bay for the moment. It was not that he could not defeat the brown bear, but in this unknown place, avoiding a fight was best.
He searched every place nearby, yet still found no trace of humans.
It seemed he would have to move elsewhere and try searching again, hoping to find people.
