Background / History
Long Clan Origins
The Wen descend from Long Ying’s surviving branch of the Long clan. After an alliance of enemies destroyed his lineage on the Azure Dragon Continent, Long Ying founded the Shadow Assassin Organization to pursue revenge. A close friend betrayed him, forcing him to flee with his son, Long Jian 12.
Long Ying eventually hid on the Wasteland Continent and renamed his son Wen Jian. With no suitably talented martial heir among his descendants, he sealed away his inheritance. He later died of old age during life-and-death seclusion after failing to reach the next realm 11 12.
Wenlong discovers the ancestor’s remains, spirit water, and records in a hidden chamber. The inheritance gives him both the means to rebuild the Wen and knowledge of the older grievance against the Long clan’s destroyers 11 12.
Survival and Reconstruction
The Kai feud leaves the Wen severely weakened. Wenlong’s grandparents die defending their clansmen, his two elder brothers are killed while protecting him, and his father suffers serious injuries. The surviving clan has few people, most of them women, making direct confrontation with the Kai impractical 11 19.
Wenlong introduces trapping methods and shared martial training, then raids the Kai for grain, cloth, tools, and wealth. At the neglected Ancestral Grounds, the clan builds walls, reclaims farmland, and welcomes his maternal grandmother and uncles. Captured Kai clansmen are guarded and forced to work on construction and farming 13 18 21 22.
A smithy, structured training, and improved supplies stabilize the settlement. Its recorded population reaches sixty-three, or sixty-six when the maternal grandmother’s family is included; five babies are also born during this period 23.
Expansion and the Kai Defeat
The Wen broaden their settlement beyond the original clan. Wenlong offers homeless people from Brightlight City food, clothing, housing, farm work, and education for their children, explicitly assuring them that they will not be slaves and may leave. The clan also brings in relatives and expands its workshops and defenses 30 34 44.
Against the Kai, the Wen initially rely on raids, hidden lookouts, ambushes, and attacks on leading figures. Wenlong avoids a decisive battle until the clan can withstand retaliation, recognizing that enemy numbers could overwhelm even their crossbows 37 38 39.
The defeat of the Kai in Wan Family Town prompts celebrations and ancestral rites. A dispute follows when Wen Tiancheng and the senior uncles propose killing prisoners as sacrifices. Wenlong opposes the plan, warning that slaughtering helpless captives would destroy the Wen’s reputation. The elders reconsider after Shitou explains Wenlong’s strategy of protecting the Huaxia Sect’s standing as an Orthodox Sect 50 51.
By Chapter 63, the Wen capture more than two thousand additional Kai family members, bringing the blood feud to an end. Their attention shifts toward development and extending influence along the route to Green Mountain City 63.
Factional Crisis and Reorganization
During Wenlong’s decades-long absence, internal factions persecute his family and their supporters. On returning, he punishes Wen Ji, the First Grand Elder, the Fourth Grand Elder, and other perpetrators. He also kills Sect members who refuse his order to stay out of the clan dispute, frees prisoners through Seventh Uncle, and heals injured survivors 124.
Wenlong restores his parents’ health and reunites the scattered family. Wen Tiancheng then relinquishes power, regretting the consequences of his pursuit of authority. A month-long purge removes Wen Ji’s faction from the clan’s territories and businesses 125 126.
The subsequent clan meeting appoints Seventh Uncle as Clan Chief, Wenzhu as Huaxia Sect Master, Wangcai as Huaxia City Lord, and Wen Tie as workshop overseer. A council of elders is established, affected families receive compensation, and Wenlong’s maternal uncles secure annual profit shares for their earlier contributions 126.
Wen Tie’s Murder and Migration
On a later ancestral visit, the returning family learns that Wen Tie and his wife have been murdered. Seventh Uncle identifies Daniu, Erniu, Linzi, and Shitou’s escaped son as responsible for the attack and the removal of Shitou’s family. Wenzhuzi’s investigation has failed to locate them 156 157.
Wenlong traces the fugitives to Tai’an City and returns them to Wen Family Village. Wen Cai and Wen Fu avenge their parents by killing Shitou’s family. Wenlong orders the other accomplices to lose an arm and leaves their remaining punishment to Seventh Uncle 157 158.
Family members then choose whether to remain or migrate to the Immortal World. Wenzhuzi and Zhao Xuan depart, while their son Long Ming stays behind to lead the Huaxia Sect. Wenlong transports the departing relatives and allies across the Chaotic World to New Dragon City, where they receive residences 158.
The Immortal World Household
The Wen household becomes the ruling family of Dragon City, whose territory belongs to them. Wenlong establishes household rules to prevent internal strife, guarantees cultivation resources to every family member, and appoints relatives to household and city responsibilities 197 198 215.
He later moves the family to Huaxia City in the Blackwater Domain for its richer spiritual energy. Wen Cai remains in charge of Dragon City with Old Black as his bodyguard and a Heavenly Tribulation Array under his control. Wenlong installs another such array at Huaxia City’s gates 215.
Resources from expeditions into the Forbidden Grounds support further family advancement. Yuan Jing, Yuan Lailai, Yang Bingxue, and Wen Haohao eventually join Wenlong in the Infinite Realm 233.
