It felt as though something was drawing him in.

The original story had said little about the Jashin Cult, and Hidan was its only known follower.
As for the Jashin they worshipped, he had never actually appeared from beginning to end.
There was no telling whether he really existed.
But now, that sense of being summoned was unmistakably real...
Moreover, although Hidan's immortality supposedly came from bloody human experiments, Liu Yun found that explanation dubious.
The so-called "experiments" those two had conducted earlier hadn't contained the slightest trace of "science."
Cruelty had been the whole point.
Even Orochimaru would have frowned at them.
He didn't believe methods that absurdly crude could create an immortal body.
After all, even someone as powerful as Hashirama Senju had possessed cells with outrageously high vitality.
His regenerative abilities had also been among the very best.
Even so, he couldn't survive a kunai through the heart. At most, he was a ninja who wasn't quite so fragile.
He was still unimaginably far from being "immortal."
Yet Hidan had relied on his "immortal body" and "Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood" to handle just about everything. A kunai through the heart was nothing unusual for him, and he remained perfectly alive even when his body was chopped into several pieces...
That clearly wasn't normal. It was nothing an ordinary ninja should have been capable of.

Taking everything into account, Jashin probably did exist in the Shinobi World.
But just like the Shinigami summoned by the Reaper Death Seal, it was still unclear whether he had a physical form.
