"I'm not going!"

Chen Mo clutched the wound where his fingers had been severed. He refused without a second thought.

"My task is already done. I'll just wait here for you."

Was this a joke? He had barely escaped with his life.

Going back in would be downright insane.

The donkey stood upright on its hind legs, its forehooves planted on its hips.

Its eyes narrowed slightly.

"First, what if you made all that up just to get me to save your ass?"

"If those rules are fake, wouldn't going in alone be suicide?"

"If we're dying, we're dying together. At least we'll have company on the road to hell."

As the donkey spoke, it grabbed the back of Chen Mo's collar.

An enormous force pulled at him.

Chen Mo was hauled bodily off the ground.

His feet dangled in the air like a battered sack being held up.

"Let go of me!"

Chen Mo struggled.

But the anesthetic still hadn't worn off.

All he could manage was a few feeble wriggles in midair.

"Behave!"

Red Hare muttered a muffled curse.

It dragged Chen Mo toward the clinic.

"Second, and most importantly."

"This plan of mine really won't work without you."

"Keep your wits about you once we're inside, got it?"

Before Chen Mo could react,

Red Hare had already carried him to the entrance.

They stepped back into the shadows.

Creeeak-

Without a moment's hesitation, Red Hare dragged Chen Mo into the clinic.

It released its hoof, and Chen Mo hit the floor with a smack.

Standing upright on its hind legs, it planted its forehooves on its hips and surveyed the surroundings.

The fall left Chen Mo utterly dazed.

He looked up just in time to see Red Hare leap high into the air.

A backward kick slammed into a row of plastic seats beside it.

Clang!

The entire row of seats flew several yards under the force of the kick,

then tumbled down the hallway.

It turned and leaped onto the reception desk.

It stomped furiously in place.

A few stomps shattered the chair beneath its feet.

"Quack! Where's the murderous quack? Get your ass out here!"

Red Hare smashed everything in sight, bellowing in its cracked, grating voice.

A metal cabinet beside it rattled under its shaking.

The consultation room door opened, and Doctor Wen's gentle, handsome face appeared in the doorway.

At the sight of the wreckage, the donkey throwing a tantrum while clutching a cabinet, and the half-dead Chen Mo on the floor,

his professional smile instantly froze.

He adjusted his glasses, his gaze gradually turning cold.

"Are you... here for..."

"Here for your granny!"

The moment Red Hare saw its target,

it grew even more animated, pointing at Doctor Wen and unleashing a torrent of abuse.

"Look! Just look at what you've done!"

It pointed a hoof at Chen Mo on the floor.

"My son was perfectly fine! He came here for a fucking headache, and now his fingers are gone!"

"Is there no law anymore? No justice?"

"If my boy hadn't run fast enough, would you have cut out his kidneys too?"

Doctor Wen's face began to twitch. The warmth rapidly vanished from his eyes.

Chen Mo sat on the floor, watching the donkey make an outrageous scene beside him.

He broke into a nervous sweat. Why wasn't this donkey following the usual script?

Would this really work?

Wen Li adjusted his glasses, his smile slowly fading.

"I didn't... you..."

Red Hare gave him no chance to speak. It stepped forward and seized his collar.

"You what?"

"I what? You can't even get a sentence out, and you're practicing medicine without a license?"

"Even the old vet in our village is better than you."

"Your face is so pale, but your heart's so black! Go treat your own weak kidneys first!"

Chen Mo lay on the floor, watching the donkey's utterly overwhelming verbal assault.

Holy shit, this old donkey has even less class than I do...

Wen Li lowered his head and simply stopped arguing.

He let Red Hare's fat droplets of spit splatter across his face.

Chen Mo clearly saw the hallway lights begin to sway.

The air slowly started to warp.

The white plaster peeled off the walls in chunks, revealing pale green patches of mold.

Weeds kept sprouting through the floor.

Chen Mo's heart jolted.

The donkey's method was actually working!

Red Hare had clearly noticed the changes around them too.

It turned and kicked Chen Mo.

Chen Mo immediately took the hint.

Clutching his right hand, he rolled across the floor and squealed like a pig being slaughtered.

"Ow... my hand..."

"It hurts so much... the doctor's murdering me..."

"I only had alcohol poisoning, and this asshole without an asshole prescribed me a hundred grams of cephalosporin!"

"He even cut off two of my fingers, saying I had bone spurs! The goddamn bastard!"

"That fucking cross-dresser even wears a nurse's outfit! Why didn't he cut off his own junk first? Aaaaah!"

Chen Mo wailed without shedding a tear, pounding the floor with his uninjured left hand.

Seeing Chen Mo throw himself into the performance, the donkey became even more self-righteous.

It leaped onto the one remaining waiting bench and hammered the wall with both hind legs.

Large chunks of plaster rained down, mixed with yellow pus.

"Pay up! Pay for my son's hand!"

"Crooked clinic! Human lives mean nothing to you!"

"Give us an answer today, or I'll tear this shitty clinic apart!"

"Raaagh!"

Wen Li let out an inhuman roar.

The silver scalpel appeared in his hand again.

It became a silver blur and shot toward Chen Mo.

"Perfect timing!"

The donkey became a black-and-white blur as well.

It moved second but arrived first.

The scalpel spun through glittering arcs in midair, clashing against Red Hare's hooves.

Clink! Clink! Clink! Clink!

A string of metallic chimes rang out.

Chen Mo stopped howling and sat in a corner, his eyes no longer able to follow the two figures.

"Donkey Spring Kick!"

Red Hare lashed out with a vicious kick, planting it squarely in Wen Li's chest.

Wen Li staggered backward, his breastbone caved in.

"I'll kill you!"

With a pained roar, he hurled the scalpel in his hand.

It flew straight at Red Hare's face.

Red Hare's pupils contracted. At the last possible instant,

"Donkey Roll!"

"Donkey Spring Kick!"

The donkey flipped sideways and snapped out a hind hoof.

Crack!

A teeth-grating crunch of breaking bones rang out.

Wen Li flew backward like a battered sack, slammed into the wall behind him, and slid to the floor. His body convulsed as black eerie energy poured wildly out of him.

The battle ended astonishingly quickly.

With his domain shattered and his rules nullified, Doctor Wen now

was nothing more than a newly advanced level-two anomaly in the donkey's eyes.

Only a little stronger than a level-one anomaly.

Red Hare sauntered over.

As it passed Chen Mo, it made sure to hook another hoof through his waistband.

It took Wen Li's collar in its teeth and dragged him toward the second floor like a dead dog.

The operating room.

The same operating table.

Red Hare tossed Chen Mo onto it.

It pulled Wen Li's Scalpel from its pink underpants.

Then it turned to Chen Mo.

"Ready?"

"This bastard's energy is mixed with resentment. It's a real mess. Even with me guiding it for you, there's only a thirty percent chance of success."

"Either you rise straight to the top and become a Transcendent."

"Or this power bursts you apart, or the resentment overwhelms you and turns you into a drooling idiot."

"Your choice."

Chen Mo struggled to sit up from the floor.

He glanced at his mangled right hand, then at the source on the operating table, still leaking power.

Fortune favored those who took risks.

He had no way back anymore.

Chen Mo raised his head and gave that sleazy donkey face a firm nod.

"Do it."

"Heh, you've got guts!"

Red Hare grinned and swept its hoof.

It sliced open Wen Li's skull with ease.

"Aaaah!"

A shrill, agonized scream echoed through the deathly silent clinic.
