Namur opened with a full prostration. Who knew whether he had learned it from Izo.
"...Why such a grand gesture?"
Sephiroth really had not meant to say it. The scene simply fit too well, and the words slipped out before he could stop himself.
"My deepest apologies, Your Majesty Sephiroth... I merely wanted to thank you for your kindness toward Fish-Man Island. Some friends from my homeland have also benefited from your generosity..."
Namur had not addressed him as the "Great Angel," as pirate custom dictated, but as "Your Majesty."
Objectively speaking, Sephiroth's help for Fish-Man Island had been far more thorough than Whitebeard's. But Pops had been protecting Fish-Man Island since the dawn of the Great Pirate Era.
The Great Angel's actions had cost Whitebeard face. It was only because he was not a pirate that the matter could be let go.
Besides, Pops was extremely magnanimous and close friends with Neptune. He had raised no objections, merely taking back his flag in accordance with pirate custom. He had not even cut off his personal contact with Neptune.
That made Namur feel even more indebted to Pops.
"Your Majesty Sephiroth, I, Namur, am willing to do three things for you. As long as they do not betray Pops... anything at all."
Namur pressed his forehead to the floor.
He understood that someone like the Great Angel would inevitably have things he could not conveniently dirty his own hands with.
Namur was willing to do three dirty jobs to repay this favor.
If it would damage Pops's reputation, he was willing to leave the main crew, become a captain under Whitebeard's banner, and then act in his own name.
Afterward, he would sever his ties with Fish-Man Island and devote the rest of his life entirely to Whitebeard, making amends
