The voice came out of nowhere behind him, startling Li Jie so badly he nearly jumped off the bridge.

"Aaaah!!!"

He sprang up and spun around, his hand on his gun. "Dr. Quizzle, could you stop following me around like a ghost?"

"You're the one who told me to come!"

"Right... but at least make some noise..."

Li Jie turned sideways, took her by the arm, and carefully moved her in front of him. Harleen giggled, entirely unconcerned, then ran over to Raven and wrapped the girl in a hug from behind.

"Ra~ven~"

The girl didn't resist. She merely lowered her head and answered quietly, "Hi, Harleen."

"It's so windy up here. My hair's a mess." Harleen rested her chin on Raven's shoulder and raised a hand to smooth the ends of both their hair. "Are you cold?"

"No, I'm not." Raven watched Li Jie duck down and squeeze his way over, then lowered her eyes apologetically. "Hi, Sheriff."

"Hi."

Li Jie wanted to dangle his legs off the platform like she did, but one glance at the raging waves dozens of meters below convinced him to crouch safely beside her instead.

"You're really not scared?" He looked at Raven, then held on to the steel structure and glanced down again. "Sitting like that, I'd keep feeling like my shoes were about to fall off."

"No..."

Raven shook her head. "I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye."

"But you found such a wonderful spot," Harleen said, following her gaze into the distance. "The view's really something, isn't it? You can see the whole city glowing, but you can't hear any of its noise."
