After a tense but enjoyable day of patrol, Li Jie found himself irritated the very next day.

With Jian/Chu Linqi, a descendant of German nobility, and Zilton aboard, keeping things under control suddenly became much harder. Zilton looked well-behaved, but his hands kept roaming around the van, itching to dismantle something. Jian's driving was only passable, and navigating the patrol route fell entirely to Li Jie.

Starting in the central Diamond District, they followed the boundary with Central Headquarters' jurisdiction, took in the towering Wayne Tower, crossed a bridge over the Finger River, and drove through Robinson Park. Where Caesar Avenue met Coventry, just outside the Wayne Botanical Gardens, they spotted a construction site. Judging by the equipment, someone was building a park.

"Hey, buddy." Li Jie stopped the van and walked over to a man who looked like the foreman, directing the work. "What are you building here? I'd better not get any complaints about you disturbing the neighborhood."

"Don't worry. It's a Wayne Enterprises project-a free children's park." The foreman shook his hand. "I just handle the construction. The person the big boss put in charge is over there."

Li Jie looked in the direction he pointed and spotted a short, round figure.

"Well, well... hello, Mr. Winslow!"

Winslow Schott turned at the sound of his voice, adjusted his glasses to get a better look, then hurried over on his short little legs.

Even that brief jog left him panting. Once he reached Li Jie, he caught his breath and held out a hand.

"Long time no see, Sheriff. Come to think of it, I still haven't thanked you for recommending me for a job at Wayne Enterprises."
