The sky suddenly exploded-literally.
A sonic boom rang out overhead in the direction of Metropolis. Dark clouds piled upon one another like flames frozen in time. Within them, an invisible wall shattered as a streak of gold collided with a streak of silver-gray, and the shock wave set every car alarm on the street screaming.
"What was that...?"

The next second, someone fell diagonally out of the clouds toward Gotham, like a bird shot out of the sky.

With a deafening crash, she slammed into the roof of a five-story apartment building. Its concrete structure crumpled like paper, sending up a small mushroom cloud of dust that slowly rolled through the darkness like waves.
