Ch. 381What Kaguya wanted was not freedom, but an answer that would not be erased
Gen and the Five Nations allowed Kaguya’s question to be heard while keeping her sealed, and established a process to preserve her words, the parties’ responses, and any later revisions. The chapter leaves Kaguya’s disposition unresolved as the tailed beasts begin responding separately to discussions about the Ten-Tails.
- Ri checked the Lunar Surface Channel and opened it only after the Land of Rain and Land of Rivers agreed to receive Kaguya’s question and Konoha checked for Black Zetsu’s residual core.
- Kaguya asked whether the Living World had decided how to dispose of her will, and Gen answered that no final decision had been reached and her demands could still be refused.
- Gen dismissed the System’s offer of sole negotiating authority and said each party affected by Kaguya’s demands had to answer for itself.
- The Land of Rivers proposed three columns to preserve Kaguya’s exact words, the parties affected, and their responses, with revisions retaining prior versions and their reasons.
- Ri engraved the records on the Seventh Ring, told Kaguya that she could open the door but would not stand there forever, and closed the channel.
- Nine-Tails warned against trading the tailed beasts for Kaguya’s consent, while the other eight sealing sites responded with differing levels of agreement or silence.
