As usual, Ponzu first sent her bees out to scout.
The bees flew inside, then soon came back out and circled above her head.
"It goes pretty deep," Ponzu said. "The mushrooms are at the very back."
Odin walked inside. The cave was dark, its air damp and musty. The ground was uneven, littered with loose stones and potholes.
Ponzu followed behind him, her hand resting on the cloth pouch at her waist.
After about five minutes, the passage widened.
A more spacious chamber opened up ahead, with mushrooms covering the surrounding rock walls.
The mushrooms were fist-sized, their pale blue caps traced with fine patterns and giving off a faint glow.
Ponzu walked over and reached out to pick one.
The instant her hand touched it, the mushroom withdrew into a crack in the rock wall.
She tried again, but it still withdrew.
"These things dodge," she said.
Odin approached the wall, using Nen-infused Observation Haki to precisely predict the mushrooms' positions and movements. They huddled in the cracks, their caps pressed against the rock, completely still.
He reached out with his right hand, positioning two fingers to pinch the stem of a mushroom just as it emerged, then plucked it before it could retreat.
The instant the mushroom left the wall, it turned into a card.
Watching beside him, Ponzu's mouth twitched.
"You call that picking mushrooms?"
"That's exactly what it is," Odin said. "Just wait for them to come out."
Ponzu rolled her eyes, speechless. It wasn't as if she hadn't tried. She simply couldn't pick them.
Odin put the card into his Spell Book and kept picking.
One, two, three.
In less than five minutes, he had collected all nine glowing mushrooms.
