"The rules of Greed Island are as follows," the girl said, her voice still flat.

"First, players can use two spells: 'BOOK' and 'GAIN.'"

She paused, as though waiting for Odin to take that in.

"'BOOK' opens the Spell Book. 'GAIN' turns cards into physical objects."

Odin nodded. He knew that. He had seen it in the anime.

"Second, all items obtained in the game can be turned into cards," the girl continued. "When you obtain an item, simply hold it in your hand, and it will automatically turn into a card."

"Third, if you want to use a card, hold it in your hand and say 'GAIN.' The card will turn back into an item."

Odin obligingly raised an eyebrow. "It's that simple?"

"It's that simple," the girl said. "But there are a few things to bear in mind."

She held up one finger.

"First, once you use 'GAIN' to turn a card back into an item, that item can never be turned into a card again. If you want to obtain that card again, you must find another instance of the item."

Odin frowned, as though getting hooked on his little act. "What if the item breaks?"

"If the item breaks, you will also have to obtain it again," the girl said.

She held up a second finger.

"Second, every card has a quantity limit. For example, if a card has a limit of three, only three copies of that card can exist in the entire game at once. If someone already has three copies, you will no longer be able to turn that kind of item into a card."

"How do I find out the quantity limit?" Odin asked.

"Check using 'BOOK,'" the girl said. "The card will display its quantity limit."
