With a flurry of crackling blows, Jiraiya was sent flying before he could even react.
"Ahem, little Jiraiya, you really underestimated your opponent," Fukasaku scolded him.
Jiraiya got back to his feet.
"Sorry, boss, ma'am. I let my guard down and didn't dodge." Jiraiya smiled and dusted himself off, as though the surprise attack had done nothing at all.
After all, Jiraiya had never deactivated Sage Mode, and with its power enhancing him, he was still formidable.
Even without deliberately defending himself, how could the Naraka Path's barely skin-deep damage hurt Jiraiya while he was in Sage Mode?
That was also why the Shinobi World had countless ninjutsu, yet only the Three Great Sage Lands had developed truly powerful Senjutsu.
"Tch, looks like that didn't hurt you after all, Master Jiraiya."
The Naraka Path stared at Jiraiya, his face as emotionless as a machine's, with an expression that suggested someone owed him millions.
"Haha, what's wrong? Want to learn? I'll teach you, Nagato."
But Pain seemed unwilling to entertain Jiraiya.
He summoned the King of Hell outright, intending to capture Jiraiya.
The sudden appearance of a new Summoning Beast struck Jiraiya as rather unbelievable. Wasn't that short Pain supposed to be the only one who summoned beasts to attack?
"Oh? A new Summoning Beast?"
He easily dodged the tongue the King of Hell spat out, but he felt things were nowhere near as simple as he had imagined.
Sure enough, a bald Pain appeared just then.
Without a word, he gave Jiraiya a demonstration of splitting open his skull. But instead of the expected mosaic of red and white gore, there was a laser cannon inside.
"Pew!"
A laser beam skimmed across Jiraiya's scalp. Although it didn't hurt him, it burned the hair right off the top of his head.
