After Code managed to escape, Kawaki, who had been lying in wait, beat him senseless. Even with his face swollen beyond recognition, Code did not fight back. He only begged Kawaki for mercy.
He was betting that Kawaki would not kill him outright today.
Sure enough, once Kawaki had vented his anger, he stood up without another word and simply glared at Code.
Code also felt he had gone a little too far. He had completely ruined Kawaki's plan. They had already agreed to work together, yet he had stabbed Kawaki in the back.
But he had had no choice. If he did not find a way out, Konoha would really kill him when they tracked him down.
"I'm sorry, Kawaki."
But Kawaki still said nothing. He really did not want to deal with this self-important fool.
Just as the two remained locked in this stalemate, a voice that suddenly rang out scared them both witless.
"Well, well, looks lively here."
A figure dressed in white robes, with two enormous horns on his head, appeared beside them. He wore a constant smile, yet danger radiated from him at every moment.
"Enough fooling around. Let's find out what's going on here first."
At that moment, a somewhat shorter figure appeared on their other side.
Judging by the two uninvited guests' clothing and the dangerous aura around them, they were undoubtedly members of the Ōtsutsuki Clan.
The first man, the one with the narrowed eyes, approached Code and Kawaki and sniffed them. After pondering for a long while, he finally spoke.
"Hmm, you two have a familiar scent on you. What was that fellow's name again?"
This man was Ōtsutsuki Miao-shiki. As he spoke, his closed eyes opened, revealing Rinnegan with blue rings.
The other Ōtsutsuki, however, supplied the name without hesitation.
