That night, dense woods filled the boundless darkness. In the distance, a tavern blazed with light, though its few scattered tables of customers suggested business was not particularly good. Meihui and his two companions were eating there.
Jiraiya ordered food for the two boys and some wine for himself. Once he started drinking, he started boasting.
Meihui knew that was just the kind of person Jiraiya was. Everyone had their little hobbies, after all. Jiraiya's peeping probably, possibly, perhaps counted as a hobby too.
Jiraiya recounted the people and events he had encountered over the past few years while searching for the Child of Destiny, unaware that the person he sought was Naruto.
And so Jiraiya boasted now and then while Naruto and Meihui listened, occasionally exposing his tall tales and embarrassing him.
Little did they know that this was merely the calm before the storm. That person was almost here.
Just then, the Nine-Tails inside Meihui suddenly wanted to speak to him. A golden Chakra Cloak appeared around Meihui on its own, forming a fox's head at his shoulder.
"Huh? Kurama, why did you come out? I don't think I summoned you. What, do you think Jiraiya's boasting has gotten out of hand too?" (Don't ask why the Yang Nine-Tails inside Naruto didn't give a warning. Yang Nine-Tails: "I sensed it too, but I can't get out!")
"Hey, you little brat, run! I sense an incredibly powerful presence approaching. Hurry, or it'll be too late!"
Seeing how serious the Nine-Tails was, Meihui suspected this was the danger his system had warned him about.
He looked at Naruto and Jiraiya.
"Come on, run! Before it's too late!"
