Looking up at Shenron, who was still waiting for a wish, Son Gohan turned toward Mr. Popo, who stood quietly watching beneath a tree.
"Mr. Popo, I'd like to ask you something," he said.
Mr. Popo paused. "Huh? What is it?"
Son Gohan's expression was serious.
"I once heard a story that said Old Kami made a set of Black Star Dragon Balls before he split from King Piccolo, and that they're hidden deep inside the Lookout. Mr. Popo, is that true?"
A few question marks popped up above Mr. Popo's head, and he shook his head like a rattle. "No. Where did you hear that story, Gohan? Old Kami had already separated from King Piccolo when he first made the Dragon Balls. He never made any before that."
"I happened to hear it from a passerby. So it really was just a story?" Son Gohan turned to Piccolo with the same questioning look.
"He never made any," Piccolo confirmed, shaking his head.
Piccolo had long since fused with Old Kami, so he must have inherited all of Old Kami's memories.
If even he shook his head, then those supposed Black Star Dragon Balls really didn't exist.
