"Wh-what's going on?"

Maki paled in shock.

But within a single breath, she reacted and launched a counterattack.

If she struck now, she still had a slim chance of winning. Hesitation would only cost her life.

"Damn it, he was playing dead!"

Seeing her second brother's head flying high into the air, Maki was both shocked and furious. Ten beams of ki burst from her fingertips once more as she lunged at Granolah as fast as she could.

Granolah struggled to lift his eyelids, just in time to see Maki charging recklessly toward him.

Instinctively, he thrust his right fist forward.

Squelch!

His right fist punched straight through Maki's chest.

Clutched in his palm, a bloody heart burst out through her back.

At the same time, Maki's ten beams of ki stabbed into Granolah's chest, but something felt very wrong.

But why couldn't she feel anything in her own chest?

Maki looked down. Her pupils dilated, her head slumped to one side, and she breathed her last.

Granolah squeezed slightly, and the heart in his palm burst with a pop, splattering blood everywhere.

Then he sharply pulled his arm free.

Without his arm to support her, Maki crumpled to the ground. Her corpse even bounced once, as though showing off just how supple her body was.

Granolah flicked his hand to shake off the blood, equally shocked by his sudden resurrection.

He had not been playing dead. He really had died.

After all, Jass's spear of blazing ki had pierced his body and shredded his heart. He could not have been any deader.

And yet,

he had suddenly come back to life.

Not only that, his power had increased severalfold.

Now fully conscious, Granolah touched the wound on his chest, which had already scabbed over. It was unbelievable.

*Could it
