"What you're saying makes sense, but the hair I'm talking about isn't that kind of hair."
"Then what kind of hair is it?"
"Shut up!"
Thump! Son Gohan knocked Trunks on the head.
The two Great Apes of different colors slipped away in an instant, leaving the Supreme Kai and Kibito utterly bewildered.
Looking in the direction the Great Apes had gone, Kibito asked, "Lord Supreme Kai, what do we do now?"
Shin, the Supreme Kai, said, "I've heard that Saiyans lose their reason after transforming into Great Apes, yet those two could actually converse. That means there's more to them than ordinary Saiyans."
Kibito said, "If they're not ordinary Saiyans, then what else could they be?"
The Supreme Kai said, "They might be Saiyans with royal blood."
"As far as I know, Planet Vegeta, where the Saiyans lived, was destroyed by Frieza several decades ago."
"Only a handful of Saiyans escaped that disaster because they were away on missions, including the Saiyan Prince, Vegeta. Those two Saiyans are very likely descendants of Prince Vegeta."
Kibito added, "But why do Saiyans possess such terrifying power? That golden ape's Ki was absolutely terrifying. I felt as though he could crush me to death with a single finger."
The Supreme Kai said, "Saiyans are a rare warrior race in this universe. I've heard they can transform into legendary warriors called Super Saiyans. It was precisely because Frieza feared the emergence of a Super Saiyan that he destroyed Planet Vegeta."
"But later, around fifteen years ago, Frieza was killed by a Saiyan named Son Goku. This Son Goku was the gifted warrior who could transform into that legendary warrior, a Super Saiyan."
"And this Son Goku was a Saiyan who had been exiled to Earth as a child."
"This planet is Earth. In other words, even if those two giant apes weren't Son Goku and Vegeta, they must be closely connected to them."
"I never imagined Saiyans had grown this powerful. As the Supreme Kai, I've truly been a frog at the bottom of a well."
After that lengthy explanation, the Supreme Kai sighed and lowered his head.
Kibito hurriedly said, "Please don't say that, Lord Supreme Kai. No matter how powerful those Saiyans are, they're still mortals. You are the highest deity in this universe."
"Even so, I'm far too useless for a god," the Supreme Kai continued.
Kibito simply changed the subject. "Lord Supreme Kai, what should we do now? Should we keep following those two?"
The Supreme Kai thought for a moment, then shook his head. "Forget it. They clearly left because they didn't want us watching them. Following them would only make them resent us."
"I can sense that they bear us no ill will. They're friends, not enemies, so we'd best avoid provoking them."
"Kibito, let's go check on Majin Buu's Sealed Egg. Come to think of it, it's been tens of thousands of years since our last visit."
"Yes, Lord Supreme Kai." Kibito nodded and placed his hand on the Supreme Kai's shoulder again. The two vanished in an instant.
In a secluded valley deep in the mountains.
Son Gohan and Trunks, who had already returned to their human forms, swam freely in the river, sending water splashing everywhere.
After their swim, they went ashore and put on their highly elastic Battle Suits. Then each caught a massive crocodile, gutted it, and set it over a fire to roast.
After transforming into Great Apes, they urgently needed to replenish their nutrients.
Within half an hour, the mouthwatering aroma of crocodile meat had drawn quite a few adorable little animals.
The two tore off chunks of meat and tossed them to the animals.
All the rest went into their own stomachs.
They sat on a large rock, patting their bulging bellies.
Trunks rubbed his stomach and sighed contentedly. "Whew, being full feels so good. I don't think anything could make me happier than eating."
Son Gohan clapped his hands and stood up. "Now that we're full, let's continue the experiment."
"Yeah, okay," Trunks replied.
Then the two flew out of the valley and arrived at a wide-open grassland.
First, they transformed into Super Saiyans with a boom, then tilted their heads back to look at the moon above.
Thump-thump!
Thump-thump!
Their heartbeats rang out like war drums as the two transformed into golden Great Apes again.
Unlike last time, though, they no longer had to worry about exposing themselves.
Battle Suits made by Bulma. You deserved to own one.
Their incredible elasticity was truly beyond reproach.
Even after they transformed into twenty-five-meter Great Apes, the suits fit snugly and comfortably, allowing them to move freely without the slightest hindrance. The quality was simply unbeatable.
"Heh heh!"
Son Gohan and Trunks exchanged a glance, then clashed with resounding blows. Sand and stones flew as fierce winds howled around them.
After fighting for a while, they stopped.
Son Gohan said, "Just as I thought. Whether we become Super Saiyans first or Great Apes first, the final power level is the same. Both give us a five-hundredfold boost."
"And the transformation doesn't hinder our speed at all. I'm much faster than when I transform into Super Saiyan 2."
Meanwhile, Son Gohan made a more detailed mental comparison between this form and Super Saiyan 3.
Super Saiyan 3 provided a four-hundredfold boost.
The Great Ape Super Saiyan form provided a five-hundredfold boost.
In that respect, the Great Ape Super Saiyan form clearly had the edge.
As for speed, although the Great Ape Super Saiyan form was considerably faster than Super Saiyan 2, it probably still couldn't match Super Saiyan 3.
So Super Saiyan 3 was somewhat faster.
As for endurance, the Great Ape Super Saiyan form actually didn't consume much energy. It wasn't much different from Super Saiyan 2, making it highly efficient.
Remembering how alarmingly Son Goku's Super Saiyan 3 leaked energy, Son Gohan had reason to believe the Great Ape Super Saiyan form could utterly outclass it in that regard.
Of course, he couldn't rule out the possibility that Son Goku simply hadn't mastered Super Saiyan 3 yet, which would explain its astonishing drain on his stamina and Ki.
Son Gohan reserved judgment on that point for now.
As for defense, there was even less room for debate.
The Great Ape Super Saiyan form had thick skin and tough flesh, giving it an absurd level of defense.
Super Saiyan 3's little frame couldn't even come close.
Still, the Great Ape Super Saiyan form's shortcomings were also obvious.
Speed and its ugly appearance were part of it.
The main issue was that the transformation required the Blutz Waves emitted by a full moon.
Although Bulma could build a device capable of producing over seventeen million units of Blutz Waves during GT, she clearly didn't have the means to do so yet.
Still, he could tell Bulma about the idea now and have her build it ahead of time.
Aside from that, there was another way to solve the problem: the Saiyans' secret technique, Artificial Full Moon!
Vegeta could use his own energy and oxygen to create an Artificial Full Moon.
Although this technique drained some of the user's Ki, its effect was no different from that of a natural full moon.
Unfortunately, neither Son Gohan nor Trunks knew how to use it.
So that was another limitation.
Trunks asked, "Gohan, can you transform into Super Saiyan 2 while you're a Great Ape?"
Son Gohan said helplessly, "I've already tried. It doesn't work. At least, I can't transform into Super Saiyan 2 that way yet. Maybe my foundation still isn't solid enough."
Trunks said, "Then why not turn into Super Saiyan 2 first, then transform into a Great Ape?"
Son Gohan said, "We can try, but I already have a feeling it probably won't work either."
Sure enough, after reverting from his Great Ape form, Son Gohan first transformed into Super Saiyan 2, then tilted his head back to look at the full moon and attempted the transformation.
But that familiar feeling came again.
After his eyes absorbed the Blutz Waves, his tail twitched as though he'd received an electric shock.
Then his entire body went numb.
Although his heart beat faster and his blood kept boiling, he simply couldn't transform into a Golden Great Ape, nor did his power level increase noticeably.
The transformation had failed!
