Jiren beat Goku until he could no longer tell which way was up.
"Haaah!!!"
Jiren roared and pressed an Energy Blast against Goku's chest. It exploded with a thunderous boom, sending sparks flying and thick smoke billowing.
Goku fell from high above, trailing a wisp of black smoke.
Jiren hovered in midair, his chest heaving as he struggled for breath. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, and his stamina was almost completely spent.
Goku had guessed correctly. Forcing his power higher in such a short time had drained an enormous amount of Jiren's stamina.
He was now on his last legs.
"Huff, huff, huff..." Jiren panted heavily, watching the direction in which Goku had fallen.
The blazing aura around him dissipated, and his bulging muscles returned to their original size.
Pain.
So much pain.
There wasn't a single part of Jiren's body that didn't hurt.
It felt as though he had just been tossed into a meat grinder, ground into mince, and kneaded back into human shape. The pain was beyond words.
Goku shouldn't be able to get back up now, he thought.
But the instant that thought crossed his mind, his pupils contracted.
Goku slowly rose out of the thick smoke.
The clothes on his upper body had been blasted to shreds, and he had even lost a shoe. Not a patch of his exposed skin was unscathed, and blood was still bubbling at the corner of his mouth.
Goku raised his right hand and struggled to wipe the blood from his mouth, then slowly flew toward Jiren. "Heh, hehehe. Jiren, you're amazing. I almost passed out..."
Jiren was speechless. "..."
He watched Goku float up before him,
