Resigned as he was, Yechen still had to figure out what the system could do.
Strength, as the name suggested, referred to his explosive power. The greater his strength, the more power he could unleash.
In the Shinobi World, strength might not be the most important thing, but it was still indispensable. No one could keep using ninjutsu throughout a fight. A contest of strength was another form of combat.
Of course, some ninja specialized in taijutsu, pushing their strength to its absolute limits. They were terrifying in their own right.
Constitution referred to the body's potential, including its ability to recover, reaction speed, defensive toughness, and everything else related to the physical body.
A powerful constitution meant a person possessed immense potential.
Yechen's constitution was 2, which was merely average among the students.
The last attribute represented mental potential. Most ordinary people had around 1 point of spirit, while anything above 3 indicated the aptitude to become a ninja.
His attributes-1 point of strength, 2 points of constitution, and 4 points of spirit-looked much better than an ordinary person's, but that was not really the case.
For someone his age, a constitution of 2 was only average. Even some civilian ninja had higher scores. His only respectable attribute was his spirit.
But he was a member of the Uchiha Clan, with Uchiha blood running through his veins. For an Uchiha, that level of spirit was rather pathetic.
No wonder this guy had never awakened his Sharingan.
It was impossible to say he had felt nothing for his parents. Otherwise, why would the news of their deaths in battle have left him so heartbroken that he died?
Ultimately, the original owner's aptitude had been too poor. Even overwhelming emotional shock could not awaken his bloodline.
Now Yechen had inherited this problem. He could only say that his transmigration had landed him in a lousy body. Fortunately, he had a cheat to console himself with, and there was still a chance to turn things around.
Yechen turned his attention to his bloodlines and was instantly delighted. He had thought he only possessed the Sharingan bloodline, yet there was another one: the Hyuga Clan's Byakugan. Was this a gift from the system, or had one of the original owner's ancestors had an affair with someone from the Hyuga Clan?
Whatever. Having another bloodline was a good thing. Even if they conflicted, the system could probably resolve it.
"System, how do I activate the Sharingan and Byakugan?"
Ding-dong! To activate the Sharingan, both constitution and spirit must reach 10 points. Only then can the one-tomoe Sharingan be activated. To activate the Byakugan, strength, constitution, and spirit must all reach 10 points. Only then can the first-stage Byakugan be activated.
Yechen froze at the answer. To activate both bloodlines, he would have to raise all three attributes to 10.
The Byakugan's requirements especially surprised him. All three attributes had to reach 10 before it could be activated. Did that mean its potential was greater than the Sharingan's?
Yechen knew the Shinobi World. Although the Byakugan was one of the three great ocular techniques, its abilities were not as powerful as the Sharingan's.
One possibility occurred to him: the Tenseigan. Could his Byakugan bloodline evolve into the Tenseigan?
With that thought, it all made sense!
He calmed himself and turned his attention to the talent and skill fields.
Yechen understood why his talents were listed as none. Without activating his bloodlines, he could forget about any innate abilities.
As for his skills, only the Three Body Technique was listed. Yechen could only sigh. His aptitude was poor, and his standing within the clan was low. The Three Body Technique was simply a required subject at school.
It was currently level 1. Although Yechen did not know exactly what that meant, he was certain it was bad.
After half a month of hard work, he could barely produce a single clone with the Clone Technique, one of the Three Body Technique's components. Even that clone was so shoddy it was completely useless in combat. Level 1 probably meant he had barely grasped the basics.
After reviewing his attributes, Yechen let out a deep sigh. He had known he was bad, but he had not expected to be this hopeless. All he could do was hope the system would come through and offer a way to improve his strength.
"Evolution points? What are those?"
Ding-dong! Evolution points can improve the host's aptitude attributes and raise skill levels. They will be an indispensable resource in the future. If you wish to grow stronger, escape your fate, and stop being an insignificant ant or a fish on the chopping block, evolution points are your future.
Yechen's face darkened. This system was not very serious.
Still, what choice did he have but to listen?
"How do I get evolution points?"
The host can obtain evolution points through missions. Keep at it, working stiff! Your future is no dream!
A crow flew past...!
Yechen was speechless. Rather than argue with this sloppy system, he decided to see what the starter pack contained.
"Open the starter pack."
Ding-dong! Opening your little bundle of joy now.
That settled it. This system was definitely not serious!
Starter pack rewards: Storage space: 10 cubic meters Evolution points: 100 Zanpakutō: Hyōrinmaru Talent: Energy Conversion Silver coins: 1,000
Yechen stared at the rewards in disbelief. Was this the Shinobi World or some crossover world? How had a Zanpakutō shown up?
Yechen was familiar with Hyōrinmaru. It was the strongest ice-and-snow-type Zanpakutō, with three core forms, each bringing changes to its abilities. It was an extremely useful weapon in battle.
He just did not know what different abilities this particular Zanpakutō might possess.
Yechen took Hyōrinmaru out of his storage space. It felt icy in his hand. Its white hilt was engraved with an ice-flower pattern, while its blade was ice blue throughout, radiating a piercing, frigid gleam. It already possessed some ice-based abilities, but its true power had yet to manifest.
Zanpakutō: Hyōrinmaru. An exceptionally powerful ice-type divine weapon. Currently in its initial stage, it possesses limited ice-based abilities. As its wielder grows stronger, its powers will be revealed one by one.
Yechen gave it a try, but Hyōrinmaru did not respond at all. Clearly, he could not unleash its power at his current level.
Still, he discovered one ability: he could store Hyōrinmaru inside his body with a thought.
At his mental command, Hyōrinmaru turned into a streak of pale blue light and flowed into his arm. An ice-flower mark instantly appeared on it.
"That's really convenient," Yechen said, delighted.
He turned his attention to his evolution points and learned how they worked.
Ten evolution points could increase an attribute by 1 point. In other words, Yechen could currently add only 10 attribute points.
He would have to plan this carefully. Without question, activating the Sharingan had to come first.
Spirit +6, constitution +4. That used up all 100 evolution points. As for obtaining more, he could only wait for the system to issue a mission.
His strength increased instantly, and Yechen could clearly feel it. His body in particular felt like a furnace, while his mind became perfectly clear-a sign that his spirit and constitution were rapidly improving.
He believed that once he adapted to his abilities, his combat strength should reach the level of a Genin.
Talent: Energy Conversion. Converts energy-bearing items acquired and owned by the host into evolution points.
Yechen's heart jolted. He now had another way to obtain evolution points.
A golden gleam flashed through his eyes. There were no energy-bearing items anywhere in the room. Only the ice-flower mark on his arm showed a different color.
It seemed there was only one thing he could convert into evolution points, but Yechen could not bear to part with it. No amount of evolution points could buy him a divine weapon like this.
