After reading the information, Yechen was dumbfounded.
In those circumstances, how could he have worried about all that? He had long since forgotten the mission requirements.
He had killed four Genin, two Chunin, and one Special Jōnin-seven people in total. The mission required ten kills, so he really had failed to complete it.
He could accept losing two-thirds of the evolution points, but what was the point of giving him an incomplete manual for the A-rank Rasengan? What if practicing it caused his cultivation to go berserk?
After reading the Rasengan manual, Yechen breathed a sigh of relief. Being incomplete only meant its rank had been lowered. Originally an A-rank ninjutsu, it now contained only the basics, much like when Naruto first started learning the Rasengan.
That put his mind at ease.
Yechen was not worried about the Rasengan's rank. As long as he could practice it, the ninjutsu could keep evolving. That was the advantage of having a system.
The next few days passed quietly. Yechen rarely went out and spent all his time training. He needed time to put the 690 evolution points he had earned to use.
He did not neglect his other skills, either, but his main focus was the Rasengan.
Seven days later.
While Yechen was training, the system notification finally sounded.
Ding! Rasengan (incomplete) has met the evolution requirements. Evolve?
"Evolve."
A mysterious understanding flooded his mind, and the subsequent training methods for the Rasengan unfolded in Yechen's head, one after another.
The Rasengan in the system panel's skill section was no longer marked as incomplete.
Three days later, Yechen used Shadow Clones to raise the Rasengan to level 2, exhausting his evolution points.
Character panel: Host: Uchiha Ye Chen Rank: Chunin Cultivation method: Primordial Chaos Devouring Heaven Technique Combat power: 28.8 Strength: 93 Constitution: 95 Mental power: 100 Energy: 1000 Bloodlines: Sharingan (one-tomoe), Byakugan (first evolution) Talents: Energy Conversion, Amaterasu (level 1), Space Compression (level 1) Skills: Advanced Three Body Technique (level 6), Fire Release-Wildfire • Flame Waves Soaring to the Heavens (level 12), Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique (level 5), Rasengan (level 2) Evolution points: 0
When his mental power reached 100 points, Yechen received a message: once all three aptitude attributes reached 100 points, his bloodlines would undergo their second evolution.
What that meant went without saying.
After ten days of grueling training, Yechen's strength had risen another notch. His combat power spoke for itself, and the Three Body Technique had gone up one level, meaning his Shadow Clones and Flash Teleportation Technique had also improved.
The Rasengan had evolved into its standard form, equivalent to the early stage at which Naruto used the ninjutsu.
As for Fire Release and the Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes Technique, they became increasingly difficult to improve at higher levels. One major issue was that Yechen lacked a suitable training environment.
He could increase his skill proficiency, but he still needed room to use those skills.
If he caused too much of a disturbance, it would be difficult to explain, so progress on those two ninjutsu had slowed.
Given his surroundings, Yechen did not force the issue. Even if he could not practice Fire Release, he could still train the Rasengan. As long as he kept the disturbance down and was a little more careful, he would be fine.
Early the next morning.
With his training finished for the moment, Yechen left his tent and wove through the crowds. Seeing everyone hurrying about gave him the strange impression that a storm was brewing.
Yechen had a fair idea of where that impression came from. Given Orochimaru's temperament, he would never swallow his anger after suffering two setbacks.
Yechen strongly suspected that Orochimaru was preparing a major move.
Still, he knew that even if Orochimaru wanted revenge, he could not take it in the short term.
Ten days earlier, the Rock Ninja and Sand Ninja had launched a joint surprise attack. Although Konoha had ultimately held its main camp, its losses had been considerable.
Not only had half the camp's supplies been destroyed, but seven Jonin had died, to say nothing of the Chunin and Genin.
Thus, until fresh supplies and reinforcements arrived, Orochimaru could not make any major moves.
Judging by how long their last supply escort to the main camp had taken, it would take at least a little over two weeks.
That did not even include the time needed to gather the supplies. If anything happened during the escort, it would take even longer.
Yechen estimated that it would probably take a month to get everything sorted out.
In other words, there would be no major fighting for the next couple of weeks or so.
Although that meant he could not earn more evolution points, having some extra time to rest was good, too.
He was getting tired as well. Constant training was grueling, and he could use this time to relax a little.
Leaving the base and passing through the various defensive lines, Yechen reached a dense forest to the west. As he approached, he heard the thudding of blows against wooden posts and the clash of weapons.
Yechen was used to it.
This was the area the main camp had set aside for ninja to practice ninjutsu and spar with one another. He had trained here for a while, too, though he usually practiced ninjutsu in his tent.
His training method was a little too alarming.
Six Shadow Clones training nonstop was something ordinary ninja simply could not manage.
Even those Jonin could not do it. Was that because they did not know the Shadow Clone technique?
No!
Their chakra simply did not allow them to train that way.
Not everyone was Naruto Uzumaki. Yechen's energy was ten times as potent as ordinary chakra, which was why he dared to burn through it like that.
Another reason was that Yechen's three aptitude attributes were balanced and his foundation was solid-something other ninja could not match.
