A chess piece planted in advance?
Su Jiu's question left Dao Lord Qing Ci frozen where he stood.
Then, as though something had finally dawned on him, he laughed. "Little girl, I really don't understand what goes on in that little head of yours anymore. Why would you think that person saved me? Your imagination runs a little too wild.
"But as for that matter, I won't tell you even if you ask. All I can tell you is that the person who saved me is someone you would never expect."
Someone she would never expect-that meant this was someone she actually knew...
"Su Jiu, I thought you'd be more interested in Yun Huanling's and Chu Luohen's secrets than this. Now it seems you don't care all that much about them, either."
Su Jiu's gaze was indifferent. "Not asking doesn't mean I don't care. Besides, they're people close to me. If they want to tell me, they will. I have no interest in learning everything from an outsider like you."
Everyone had their own secrets, and she respected their choices.
"Tsk, Su Jiu, sometimes I really envy you. You've experienced so much of the world, yet you can still place such pure, untainted trust in others. No wonder you can't guess..."
Dao Lord Qing Ci never said what she could not guess. He merely smiled with unmistakable ill intent.
"Su Jiu, do you have faith?"
Su Jiu gave him a cold look, apparently uninterested in playing his question-and-answer game any longer. She began examining her surroundings, trying to find a way out through her own power.
By her reckoning, quite some time had passed. The others must have been waiting outside for a long time, too.
Seeing her distracted, Dao Lord Qing Ci did not grow angry at her behavior.
