The two guards immediately realized their discourtesy.
They bowed respectfully to the group and let them inside.
Su Jiu and Chu Luohen walked toward the rear, so Samo and Zabu did not see the meaningful glance Su Jiu cast at the residence's gates just before entering.
After entering the residence, the group headed straight for Moglis's quarters. Yet before they even stepped into her courtyard,
they saw a woman standing outside, weeping.
Samo looked at the woman, and apology quickly surfaced in his eyes.
"I'm very sorry."
Noticing their arrival, the woman hurriedly wiped the tears from her face.
But when she heard that voice, her hand paused for a moment.
Resentment and helplessness seemed to mingle on her face, and her tone carried a sting of mockery. "You're the Young Master. What do you have to apologize for?
If our girl disappeared in the City Lord's Residence, that can only mean she was born under an unlucky star."
Those words made Samo feel even worse.
Although Zabu was worried about Moglis too, he could not bear to see his close friend mocked like this.
"Auntie, Samo feels exactly as you do right now. You shouldn't say things like that to hurt him.
Besides, even the City Lord's Residence isn't perfectly safe.
After all, none of us wanted this to happen, did we?
I think, rather than wasting time here blaming heaven and everyone else, we should start searching together.
We might still be able to save Moglis."
The woman's voice was shrill. "Save my girl? Didn't you see that huge pool of blood in her room? My girl has almost certainly been murdered! Tell me how you're going to save her!"
The woman was extremely agitated, but she was Moglis's mother, after all. Such emotions were understandable.
