He was the oldest of the five people seated there, and presumably their leader.

"There are countless people in this world who look alike. Su Jiu is hardly the only one." With a light touch that deflected a crushing weight, he neatly distanced Su Jiu from Ming Yun.
Ming Yun's fame could not possibly compare with Su Jiu's current renown. The Heavenly Dawn Sect wanted Ming Yun to cling to Su Jiu and make her name known across the four seas, but they had never considered whether Su Jiu was willing to offer them that ladder.
Of course, they could now see Su Jiu's stance clearly: she was not.
