The female cultivator finally landed on the ground. At that moment, she and the vines were closer than they had ever been.
Less than ten feet separated the Vine Branches from the female cultivator, and their tips pointed straight at the back of her head.
The Vine Branches must have thought victory was assured. They suddenly surged forward, shooting straight toward the back of her head as though to pierce clean through it.
Su Jiu curled her lips, murmuring something beneath her breath as both hands continuously formed intricate hand seals.
Just as the Vine Branches came within an inch of Su Jiu, they abruptly froze, unable to advance any farther.
"Demon Spirit, pleased to meet you." It heard the female cultivator before it say.
Su Jiu had already turned around. Looking at the Vine Branches she had immobilized in midair, her smile broadened.
The Demon Spirit was invisible at that moment. Rather than respond to Su Jiu, it tried to escape the vine after realizing she had seen through it, intending to find another Vine Nest to inhabit.
But the instant it moved, it realized something was wrong. Its body could no longer leave the vine!
In other words, it had been frozen in midair along with the vine, and could now only let these two hateful humans do as they pleased.
In its anger, it immediately released a great deal of gray mist, seemingly trying to intimidate Su Jiu and Chu Luohen.
Chu Luohen approached with an icy expression. He formed a hand seal and tapped the Vine Branches twice, instantly dispersing most of the gray mist.
"You didn't destroy it outright. Do you still have some use for it?"
Su Jiu nodded, then turned her gaze toward the vine. "You needn't pretend. I know you can speak.
