[Leave your brain here
Wind and snow raged.
The Tomioka family's front door was brutally kicked apart by tremendous force. Wood splinters mingled with icy snowflakes, slicing into the house like knives.
"What a delicious scent... the fragrance of rare blood."
A hunched demon covered in dark blue-green scales squeezed through the doorway. Drool dripped from its mouth as its greedy gaze fixed on the three people inside.
"Giyu! Yaha! Run!"
Their older sister, Tsutako Tomioka, spread her arms and shielded her two younger brothers like a hen protecting her chicks. Her face was deathly pale, and her frail body trembled like a leaf in the wind, but she bit down hard on her lip and refused to retreat a single step.
Giyu Tomioka collapsed onto the tatami, tears spilling from his eyes. He wanted to pull the hatchet off the wall, but his hands were so weak he couldn't even clench a fist.
"Run? Where do you think you can run on my turf?"
The demon grinned viciously and lunged at Tsutako. Its sharp claws pierced straight through her shoulder. Blood gushed out instantly, staining the snow red.
"Sis!" Giyu screamed in despair.
Boom!
The instant the demon lunged into the house, the already precarious roof beams collapsed completely. A thick crossbeam crashed down, pinning ten-year-old Yaha Tomioka beneath the rubble.
The air was crushed out of his lungs, and his bones cracked under the unbearable weight.
Yaha lay in the freezing mud, staring through a gap between the planks at the demon gripping his sister's throat.
He had transmigrated into this world. For ten years, he had scraped by in the world of Demon Slayer, where human lives were worth nothing. He knew today was the day the Tomioka family would be slaughtered. He had trained desperately, trying to change it all.
But it had been useless.
Before an inhuman demon, a ten-year-old child's body was as weak as an insect.
The demon opened its gaping maw, blasting its foul breath into Tsutako's face. She didn't cry. She only struggled to turn her head toward the rubble, forcing out a few words with the last of her strength. "Stay alive..."
Rage.
Utter, consuming rage.
It felt as though an invisible hand had clenched around his heart. Blood boiled wildly in his veins.
"Let her go..." A beastlike growl forced its way out of Yaha's throat. His nails dug deep into the dirt, his knuckles splitting and bleeding from the strain.

Rumble!
Without warning, a bone-chilling aura erupted from beneath the rubble.
The demon, still laughing wildly a moment earlier, suddenly froze. It turned its stiff neck toward the pile of shattered planks.
What did that sensation feel like?
As though some ancient, savage beast had fixed its gaze upon it. Even the falling snowflakes seemed to hang motionless beneath that aura.
Bang!
The thick roof beam pinning him down was hurled away by tremendous force. It crashed into the snow over ten meters away, gouging out a deep crater.
Yaha slowly rose to his feet.
He was still the same ten-year-old boy, but everything had changed.
His eyes had turned an eerie blood red, their depths holding absolute indifference toward every living thing. Ancient, intricate black markings spread up from his neck, covering half his face.
He rolled his neck, his bones snapping like popping beans.
"How noisy."
Yaha's voice was no longer childish. It carried a lazy rasp and an arrogance that looked down on everything.
Giyu stared, forgetting even to cry. "Y-Yaha?"
The demon swallowed, forcibly suppressing its fear as it roared with hollow bravado. "You little brat, playing tricks! You think changing your looks will scare me off? I'll chew you up, bones and all!"
It violently flung aside the half-conscious Tsutako and lunged straight at Yaha's face, its sweeping claws stirring a foul wind.
Yaha stood where he was, making no attempt to dodge. He lifted his eyelids slightly, watching the demon leap toward him as a cruel smirk curled his lips.
"Filth."
Yaha raised his right hand, holding his index and middle fingers together.
"Don't touch her with those filthy hands."
His fingers made a gentle slash through the air.
Cursed Technique: Dismantle.
There was no sound.
There was no flash of light.
The demon's body abruptly froze in midair. Its claws were less than three centimeters from Yaha's eye.
The next second.
Squelch!
The demon's right arm severed at the shoulder, the cut as smooth as a mirror. Then came its left leg, right leg, torso, and neck.
Before Giyu's stunned, speechless gaze, the once-arrogant demon's body fell apart in midair. It became a dozen evenly sized chunks of flesh that crashed into the snow.
The cuts had been so fast that not even a single drop of blood had had time to spill.
Yaha lowered his eyes to the pieces of flesh at his feet, looking at them as though they were a pile of trash.
"With that pathetic little strength, you had the nerve to come out and eat people?"
Just then, the demon's mostly intact head on the ground suddenly opened its eyes and let out a piercing scream. "What did you do?! My body! My body!"
A flicker of interest crossed Yaha's eyes. "Oh? Not quite dead yet?"
The demon desperately drove the blood through its body, trying to piece its shattered remains back together. Yet the instant the chunks touched, it discovered in horror that some power clung to the wounds, making even its soul tremble.
"Impossible... I can't heal?!" the demon screamed in despair.
Yaha approached one step at a time, his combat boots crunching through the snow like a countdown to death.
"This time, I'll cut slowly."
