Garp stood there, the sea breeze tousling his half-gray hair.
He looked at the Dog-Head Warship undergoing emergency repairs in the distance, smacked his lips, and turned to shout at his adjutant, Bolt.
"Hey, Bolt! Get me another warship with a full tank first thing tomorrow! My ship rushed all the way back from the New World, and now it's no better than scrap!"
"Yes, Vice Admiral Garp." Bolt saluted and said firmly, "I've already made the arrangements. We leave at six sharp tomorrow morning!"
Garp nodded in satisfaction and was about to leave when hurried footsteps sounded behind him.
"Vice Admiral Garp! Please wait!"
"Hmm?" Garp looked back and saw Tesoro, one of Gern's subordinates.
The green-haired gold boy was usually the only one of Gern's trio who played the "levelheaded" role.
Now, however, his expression was tense, his eyes filled with a rare anxiety.
"Hey!" Garp raised an eyebrow and grinned. "If it isn't the gold brat from Gern's House! What, need something from this old man?"
"Vice Admiral Garp." Tesoro drew a deep breath and met Garp's eyes, his voice resolute. "Please let Lipo and me go with you!"
"Huh?" Garp paused, then burst out laughing and clapped Tesoro hard on the shoulder.
"What would you two go for? I'm going after Roger! He's no small fry. You could end up dead!"
"I know." Tesoro did not back down. Instead, he clenched his fists, his voice low but determined.
"Because... I... I suspect Vice Admiral Gern might be hunting Roger too!"
"Gern's hunting Roger?" Garp's smile faltered slightly, and his gaze sharpened at once.
He stared at Tesoro and said slowly, "What do you mean by that?"
Tesoro gritted his teeth, seemingly making up his mind.
