Background / History

Lipo lived beside a carrot patch at her cottage near Crescent Moon Village. She had little knowledge of the outside world and initially mistook Gern for a carrot thief. After he introduced himself as a hero of justice, she dropped her hostility and greeted him with the Mink custom of hugging and rubbing cheeks 76 80.

Her first outing with Gern nearly became a financial disaster when she believed his enormous meal had consumed the money she had saved for three months to buy seeds. The restaurant owner revealed that Gern had already paid in gold, reinforcing her conviction that he was a good person despite Pedro’s warnings about the Marines 77 78.

Lipo eagerly accepted Gern’s invitation to become his companion. She ate the Heal-Heal Fruit because her first concern was whether it would let her save him without knowing medicine, then practiced by treating elderly villagers. She left the Mokomo Dukedom for the first time aboard his warship, where he introduced her as his adjutant 80 81 83.

At Marineford, Zephyr agreed to arrange her rank and personally train her while Gern was at headquarters. He considered her coordination, explosive strength, and combat instincts ideal for orthodox physical-combat training. Garp also laid the foundation for her hand-to-hand skills, which Zephyr’s instruction subsequently refined 85 87 380.

Appearance

  • White fur and rabbit features: Snowy-white fur, long floppy ears, and a small white tail 76 80 379.
  • Eyes: Pink at her introduction, later described as pink-gradient 76 379.
  • Build: Initially a petite 168-centimeter figure; later becomes noticeably taller and less childlike 76 379.
  • Marine uniform: Her first uniform remains loose despite alterations, with repeatedly rolled sleeves and a cap specially cut to accommodate her ears 84.
  • Later presentation: Retains her white fur, distinctive eyes, and carrot-shaped shoulder bag even as some of her early childishness fades 379.

Personality

Lipo is lively, affectionate, and initially naïve about life outside Zou. She enthusiastically adopts Gern’s “hero of justice” identity, imitates his poses, and treats becoming his companion as an adventure. Her unguarded friendliness disarms both Zephyr’s anger and Gion’s jealousy 76 83 85 89.

Her attachment to carrots extends to gardening, food, clothing accessories, and weapons. Damaging a carrot can provoke an explosive outburst, while the prospect of carrot cake or ice cream quickly restores her enthusiasm. She is also mischievous: she steals extra servings and admits to secretly observing Gern out of curiosity about humans 76 80 166.

Her innocence does not prevent ruthlessness in battle. After witnessing villages slaughtered by pirates and corpses desecrated for amusement, she harshly rejects Inuarashi and Cat Viper’s decision to become pirates. She kills attackers decisively and shows no pity when draining captured pirates to save Enel 104 153 314.

Lipo’s loyalty can become self-sacrificing. She is willing to spend her own life healing Gern, although Gion stops her. Her guiding conviction is to protect those who deserve protection and stop unjust violence, leading her to confront Hancock for attacking ordinary Marines 201 462.

Despite her eventual strength, she sometimes undervalues her fighting ability. While encouraging Bullet, she complains that she has barely improved and can only stay behind to heal everyone 347.

Abilities & Skills

Heal-Heal Fruit

Lipo’s fruit supports direct treatment, self-recovery, consumable healing, life-force extraction, and offensive applications 93 94 165.

  • Direct healing: Treats pain and injuries through green light emitted from her hands 81 347.
  • Self-healing: Repairs injuries during combat, including wounds inflicted by Vasco Shot and Nightin 94 173.
  • Life Drain: Extracts life force and channels it directly into a patient without first making Healing Carrots. Draining three captured pirates to stabilize Enel leaves all three dead 314.
  • Life-cost healing: Can attempt to heal Gern at the cost of her own life; Gion prevents her from proceeding 201.
  • Recovery limits: Her emergency treatment stabilizes Enel after a devastating attack, but he later requires Kuma to remove his remaining injuries and pain 314 319.

Healing Carrots

Healing Carrots condense blood or life force taken from a donor into portable restorative food 93 105.

  • Stop bleeding, accelerate wound recovery, and relieve fatigue 93.
  • Become more effective when made from physically stronger donors 93.
  • Permanently reduce the donor’s maximum lifespan; greater healing potency carries a greater cost 93.
  • A carrot extracted from the incapacitated Kozuki Oden restores Gern after a major battle while leaving Oden gravely weakened 105.
  • Carrots prepared from Impel Down’s Level Six criminals restore Gern’s burned arm, stamina, and Haki; two more repair Kuzan’s internal injuries 245.

Specialized Healing Techniques

Rampant Healing; Super-Speed Self-Healing; Pain Suppression; Purification Named developments of her healing power; their individual mechanics are not detailed in the supplied passage 165.
Over-Repair techniques The basis of reverse-healing attacks including Pain Amplification, Damage Transfer, and Nervous System Overdrive 165.

  • Armament Haki: Coats fists, legs, knees, and daggers to strengthen attacks. Her kick strikes Enel despite his attempted lightning intangibility 94 169 207 227.
  • Observation Haki: Predicts Tesoro’s attacks and detects Namur’s attempted strike from behind 165 256.
  • Training: Practices blindfolded on Gern’s vibration grid while dodging particle beams and coping with disrupted balance 216.
  • Early limitations: Her initial Armament cannot withstand Vasco Shot; Bullet’s stronger coating later stops her dagger strikes and injures her hands through recoil 94 207.

Mink Physiology and Electro

  • Explosive movement: Rabbit Mink jumping strength enables rapid charges, powerful kicks, and abrupt changes of direction 94 207.
  • Flexibility: Twists through attacks, recovers in midair, and uses recoil or nearby structures to reposition 75 256 727.
  • Enhanced hearing: Tracks enemies through Vasco Shot’s alcoholic mist even when it obstructs her vision 94.
  • Electro: Releases electricity from her body during combat; against Bullet, it increases her speed by thirty percent 94 207.

Physical Combat and Dagger Techniques

Lipo combines Soru, Geppo, close-range kicks, and reverse-grip dagger attacks, with particular emphasis on mobility and precise targeting 143 207 563.

Technique Application
Flash Step / Soru Rapidly closes distance or enters an attack’s path 75 143 462.

Carrot: Thorn Rain Rapid dagger thrusts targeting weak points in Bullet’s Haki coverage, including joints and tendon attachments 207.
Rabbit Kick: Meteor Fall An Armament-coated knee strike that drives Bullet to one knee 207.
White Rabbit Flowing Kick Scatters Hancock’s Slave Arrows before they strike Marine soldiers 462.
Rabbit Kick: Carrot Flurry Combines Geppo and Soru with Haki-coated dagger slashes to sever Ryokugyu’s vines 565.
Rabbit Fang Triple Slash: Gouge Three slashes sever pursuing thorn serpents at their neck joints 727.
