A piercing scream rang out through the entire courtyard.
Woken by the noise, Bo Yi slowly opened his eyes and sighed softly.

He sat up in bed without a ripple of emotion and sniffed his clothes. After a full night, the alcohol soaking them had mostly evaporated, leaving only a faint smell that would merely suggest he had drunk the liquor in his room's teapot.
He tidied himself up methodically before opening the door at his leisure.
Quite a few players had already gathered outside. At the sound of Bo Yi's door opening, they merely glanced back before looking away, utterly uninterested.
Bo Yi ambled over to the crowd and found a gap to peer through.
A corpse lay on the floor, with two people slumped beside it, apparently scared completely witless.
Well, well... Bo Yi raised his eyebrows slightly.

He followed the other players into Huang Xiaolu's room.
The dead player was Sun Da. Bedding was still spread beneath him, indicating that he had been sleeping on the floor. It lay neatly in place, with no signs of a struggle beyond the ordinary impressions left by someone sleeping on it.
Nor could Bo Yi find any obvious fatal injuries on his body. Yet his entire body had visibly shriveled. When Bo Yi saw him the previous night, he had still been a hulking man, but now he was considerably smaller. He was as white as a freshly painted wall, and his skin had become wrinkled and creased.
Strangely, though, Sun Da's expression looked perfectly peaceful. There was no grimace, no pain, and even the faintest hint of an upward curve at the corners of his mouth.
