The moment Bo Yi turned his gaze back to the Saintess Statue, it seemed to realize that he had noticed something wrong with it. A warm yellow glow slowly lit up its face, where the faint suggestion of features could be seen.
Unlike in the prayer room, however, no motes of light floated out of the Saintess Statue's face as the glow brightened. Instead, as the light grew increasingly dazzling, it deepened in intensity and gradually enveloped the entire office.
At the center of that light, a woman slowly emerged.
Draped in a warm glow, she stood with dignified poise, her hands loosely folded before her chest. Her white robes were graceful and flowing, the hem drifting gently with her movements... She looked utterly sacred and solemn.
That dress...
Bo Yi's gaze settled on the dress she wore, his expression thoughtful.
...It looks a little familiar.
The woman lowered her folded arms and slowly turned her head toward Bo Yi. Her face was very strange. At first glance, it seemed to bear the faint outlines of features, but a closer look revealed that there was actually nothing on it at all.
After the faceless woman appeared in the office, the warm yellow light began to fade. She slowly turned her head to "look" at Bo Yi. Though she had no eyes, Bo Yi was absolutely certain that she was "staring" at him.
She gently raised a hand toward him. Specks of light appeared in the air, drifting lazily around her palm. Then, with a sudden downward sweep of her raised fingers, all those floating motes shot toward Bo Yi at once. Thin beams streaked through the air, and the seemingly harmless lights swept toward him like a barrage of blades.
