Walking through the narrow, dim passage, Ran Yan shuddered at the metal walls on either side, covered in dents and scratches, and the dried trails of blood dragged across the floor.
"W-we... where are we going?" She cautiously surveyed her surroundings. This was the first time she had realized that the sanatorium contained somewhere so sinister and terrifying.
"To a place..." Bo Yi began slowly, "where the dead leave no bodies..." The faint light filtering from the far end of the passage fell across his face, lending his already exquisite features an even more eerie air.

Ran Yan froze. She was about to say something when a powerful, foul odor assaulted her nose, instantly killing her desire to speak. Covering her nose with one hand, she surveyed the scene before her. Her gaze passed over the enormous operating table in the middle of the room, the metal laboratory benches, and the equipment laid out on them, before finally settling on the square boxes covered with white cloths around the room.
"Those..." She pointed at the white cloths. "What's inside those?"
Bo Yi did not answer her immediately, because he was busy examining the laboratory. Like the wards, corridors, and other areas of the sanatorium, it seemed capable of restoring itself automatically. At the very least, the laboratory he had inadvertently left in chaos yesterday had returned to the tidy state it had been in when he first entered.
