Everyone looked at the thing standing motionless in the corridor.
The thing that looked like a nurse was clearly a Strange Creature controlled by the Withered Branch, and might even have been an avatar of that mysterious giant tree. But Tian Yue's Dagger was still lodged in its temple, its blade flickering with lingering electricity. Blue arcs flowed along the edge, illuminating the nurse's ashen face and making it look especially eerie.
The corridor lights had come on, but the thing had not retreated to the wall like the other nurses. Instead, it stood rooted in place, as though forcibly frozen.
"It looks like attacking these things works." Chi Yan had also come back to his senses. New markings on Su Bai's face were hardly their most pressing concern.
Su Bai joined Chi Yan and the others as they approached to examine the nurse and the Withered Branch behind it.
Although he could not see, Su Bai could sense that there was not much of the Red Moon's power in either the nurse or the Withered Branch.
This isn't right.
According to their earlier deductions, the Strange Creature lurking behind the Newborn Ward of Hospital No. 666 should have been the giant tree hidden in the corridor. But why did the Withered Branch it controlled lack that suffocating power of the Red Moon?
Were our deductions wrong, or has "it" already left its main body and begun roaming somewhere in the Newborn Ward?
Legends he had heard in his previous life flashed through Su Bai's mind. Some exceptionally powerful Strange Creatures had main bodies that might be a tree, a building, or even an entire forest or a sea of blood. Their forms made it difficult for them to move freely beneath the Red Moon, but once their power grew
