With the arrival of Gadgetzan's engineering brigade, the various construction projects at Westpoint Tower picked up even more steam.
A large number of Soil-Turners had already been dispatched to the land beside the riverbank east of the tower. Amid their rumbling, the area would be transformed into a proper, large-scale farm.
The ground there was relatively soft and damp, making it unsuitable for housing or activity areas, but it was certainly good enough for farmland.
More and more people were coming here now. Rhode had to consider not only where they would live, but also what they would eat, so expanding the acreage available for crops was essential.
The construction sites for the residential district and school grounds were naturally the busiest places. The addition of the Gadgetzan Excavators and the many newly recruited construction workers had greatly improved efficiency. Members of the Musket Corps and the ogres who had no training or patrol duties were helping out there too, along with the mages.
Ever since learning that the Syndicate seemed to be up to something, Rhode had tightened security around Westpoint Tower. Besides adding manpower, he had expanded the area under watch, ensuring they could prepare a swift response if a surprise attack occurred.
Meanwhile, the Logging Machines and road rollers were clearing more land to the north, turning areas that had once been overgrown or uneven into level ground suitable for construction.
Rhode had yet to decide exactly what to do with this area.
But preparing the land first certainly couldn't hurt. Once the essential needs of clothing, food, housing, and transportation were taken care of, Rhode could even consider setting up some entertainment ventures here to make money.
After all, material prosperity and cultural enrichment had to develop together for things to be healthy.
