Night fell beneath a bright moon and scattered stars.

Rhode slipped alone into the woods south of the Alterac Ruins.

Despite the name, the area was still shaded by lush green trees, nothing like the barren wasteland it would later become.

Those trees formed a natural barrier and gave the Syndicate plenty of places to station hidden sentries.

Since Sally and the others had stirred up trouble here during the day, there should theoretically be more sentries now, whether they had been putting on an act or not.

After all, whatever schemes they were plotting, they had to make the act convincing.

But none of that could stop Rhode.

Blue light flashed in his palms, and tiny Reconnaissance Robot Type 007 units appeared one after another.

Of course, he did not need to scout the entire area. He only had to follow the route marked on the deployment map Sally had provided.

This would also let him verify whether that intelligence was accurate.

Rhode waved his right hand lightly. The reconnaissance robots began moving, then vanished into the quiet, dark forest.

Soon, the robots confirmed the positions of several hidden sentries. Most were concealed beside trees, while some were perched up in the branches.

Naturally, Rhode would not use anything as earth-shaking as Fireball to deal with these sentries.

Instead, he used Glamour to creep close to each target, then swiftly finished them with a Blink-and-Mage-Hand throat-crushing combo before they could sense the danger.

Yes, a Mage with superb spellcasting skills made an even better assassin than an actual assassin!

Since his enemies died without even getting a chance to make a sound, Rhode could calmly move on to the next target and repeat the process.
