"Talk. What's beneath the trapdoor?" Rhode asked, seeing that Rellson's will had all but broken.

"It's... it's a secret base." Rellson hesitated, glanced at the Mage Hand still floating in midair, seemingly dripping something, and answered anyway.

"A secret base?" Rhode tilted his head to peer beneath the bed, then stared at Rellson. "What's it for? If you knew you were going to be attacked, why not just pull out? Why build a secret base?"

"Lieutenant Oto arranged it. He wanted you to attack."

"That confident, was he? So he fed us some false intelligence?"

Rellson's eyes widened despite himself. "You knew the intelligence was false? How did you know? A lot of it was true..."

Just as Rhode had suspected, this was a trap Oto had laid.

Oto had been willing to use his own men's lives as bait, letting Sally and the others steal the intelligence. Some of it was genuine, including a map showing every guard post and defensive fortification in the area. Mixing truth with lies would lure the enemy straight into the trap.

But what was the point? If we fought our way in, most of the defense map was still accurate. Wouldn't we wipe them out anyway?

"We have our ways." Rhode gave Rellson a meaningful look, hoping to mislead him.

Sure enough, Rellson jumped to the wrong conclusion.

"We... we have an inside man?!" Rellson cried out.

"Heh. Then you know what you need to do now." Rhode waved his hand lightly, and the magical spear shifted again, poised to stab downward. "Even if you don't talk, our undercover agent will figure it out eventually. As for what happens to you..."

"I'll talk! I'll talk!" Rellson said hastily. "Oto has stockpiled a large number of Goblin Sapper Charges, along with several Fel Bombs.
