A fierce fire blazed in the basement.
But the flames were manageable, since they mostly burned on those human-shaped candles and had not set the wooden walls alight.
Once all the Ghouls had fallen, Rhode immediately cast a frost spell and extinguished the flames.
Using fire had its advantages. Besides destroying them, it also limited the spread of the plague as much as possible.
"Let's get out of here. We have to cut off the source of infection right away!" Rhode said.
Arthas and Sally nodded and followed Rhode up into the room on the ground floor.
"Are you all right?" Lilia looked anxious. Children were always afraid of ghoulish things like these.
"We're fine." Rhode patted Lilia's head. "These monsters look vicious, but they're actually very weak. As long as you're careful not to let them touch you, you should be fine."
Fortunately, their five-person party had a decent balance of melee and ranged fighters, so even if Lilia and Kienlo could not help, the others could still handle things.
Everyone followed Rhode out of the farmhouse.

People ate grain carrying the Scourge virus, then died one after another and turned into mindless Ghouls and zombies.
Though this was happening a little earlier and in a slightly different place, the Cult of the Damned was presumably still using the same methods.
"Look, there's someone over there!" Lilia said, pointing toward the granary.
Everyone looked that way. Sure enough, someone was walking toward them.
"I'll ask him what happened here," Lieutenant Valokar said, starting forward to meet him.
But Rhode suddenly stopped him.
"Something's wrong, Lieutenant." Rhode pointed at the figure. "Don't you think there's something strange about
