This was the Mana Shield Rhode had raised.
But while both were Mana Shields, the one the black-robed Mage had cast earlier had only been large enough to cover himself.
Rhode's, however, was at least dozens of times larger, forming an enormous half-dome that protected everyone on this side.
And of course, size wasn't its only advantage.
What good was being big? It also had to be hard and last a long time.
Even under the furious bombardment of so many spells, Rhode's Mana Shield remained utterly unshaken.
"How is this possible?"
The Mages of Pyrewood Village nearly had their eyes pop out.
Just what kind of monster was this Rhode, to block so many people's attacks with that shield?
Big, hard, and long-lasting!
"Don't panic! Hit it harder! We'll break through soon!" Arugal roared.
He was an experienced Mage, after all, and knew that a shield like this depended heavily on its caster's mana.
Once that mana ran out, not only would the shield break, but the Mage would become a lamb to the slaughter.
That was precisely how Rhode had killed the black-robed Mage so easily.
In other words, under the combined assault of so many Mages, Rhode's mana would eventually run out, no matter how powerful he was. Then they could tear him to pieces!
The Mages immediately understood Arugal's intention.
So instead of splitting off to attack the others from the flanks, they concentrated even more mana on attacking Rhode's Mana Shield.
Once they dealt with Rhode, everyone else would be trapped and easy to dispose of.
Well... that female Elf Warrior might be a little troublesome too, but she was still manageable.
Now the various spells crashing against the Mana Shield began to make thunderous booming sounds, signaling that the Mages were giving it everything
