Once a general in the Kingdom of Azjol-Nerub and now a Crypt Fiend vanguard captain in the Scourge, Krik'thir had always thought he had a pretty good job.

His troops were stationed not far from the border between Dragonblight and the Borean Tundra, guarding the road that anyone heading to Icecrown Glacier had to take. It was something of an outpost.

It really was an easy posting.

What brainless fool would ever think of attacking Icecrown Glacier?

That was where Icecrown stood, where the Lich King resided!

Besides, the outpost was manned primarily by Crypt Fiends, so its fortress was underground, easy to defend and difficult to attack.

Or rather, if enemies came to attack, they might not even be able to find him!

So life was quite comfortable.

He had heard that things had been rather unsettled in the Borean Tundra lately, and that someone had apparently wiped out the Scourge division stationed there, but what did that have to do with him?

The Lich King would naturally send powerful servants to crush them when the time came, and the outcome was obvious-after all, no one could stand against the Lich King. Otherwise, Azjol-Nerub would never have fallen, and he would never have become a Crypt Fiend.

Of course, Krik'thir was not complaining about life as a Crypt Fiend. Aside from the food being a little worse, everything else was pretty good.

Clearly, few in the Scourge cared about fine dining. Even eating something alive was a rare occurrence.

Perhaps Krik'thir only had a chance to sample something fresh when members of the Cult of the Damned came here on assignments. The rest of the time, he could only occasionally bite into an animal like the other Crypt Fiends-he rarely felt hungry now anyway.
