"Something feels off." Millhouse Manastorm hurled a fireball, then turned to Galinder behind him.
"What is it?" Galinder drew his bow and sent an arrow into a charging ghoul, knocking it away.
Beside him, Sally was busy healing the wounded, while Kienlo and Lilia had pushed forward.
Although Kienlo could now assume Moonkin Form and cast Starfire from range, she had turned into a panther to help Lilia instead.
"There seems to be something over there. But that's just my feeling as a mage." Millhouse Manastorm pointed toward an open stretch of ground nearby. "Everything looks normal from here. It's a little shadowy, though, so I can't see clearly..."
Galinder stopped shooting, took a few steps forward, and peered into the distance.
Their makeshift defensive position was already quite well developed. Staggered trenches ran deep through the lines, and thick, sturdy earthworks stood everywhere, lending the place an air of tense vigilance.
In fact, Rhode had ordered this, intending to fight a decisive battle against the main Scourge force here and destroy it effectively.
But those same defenses also obstructed their view, keeping them from seeing clearly into the distance.
"Here, give me a light," Galinder said to Millhouse Manastorm.
"Oh?" Millhouse Manastorm gave him a surprised look, then understood at once.
Galinder had held an arrow out in front of him.
Its tip was coated with a special material that would produce a dazzling light once ignited.
Millhouse Manastorm nodded and reached out.
With a pop, the arrowhead caught fire.
Then Galinder loosed the arrow.
With a dull thump, a fiercely burning ball of light streaked across the sky and drifted down toward the open ground ahead.
The area lit up at once, and the shadows vanished.
"What's that?" Galinder pointed.
