Personality
Wang Sheng is quick to take offense when ignored and initially enforces Dorm Seven’s hierarchy through fighting. However, he respects strength: after Tang San defeats him, he readily accepts him as boss and enthusiastically follows his instructions 4.
His friendliness toward powerful newcomers is also practical. He views Ye Fan, Xiao Wu, and Tang San as valuable protectors for the work-study students and offers to buy them a meal to build good relations. Although normally thrifty, he generously purchases every dish Xiao Wu wants to try 6 7.
Background / History
Losing Dorm Seven’s Leadership
When Ye Fan and Tang San arrive at Dorm Seven, Wang Sheng is its boss and is regarded by the other residents as their strongest student. He moves to intercept the newcomers, but Ye Fan’s command, “Don’t block the way,” forces his body aside and leaves him frightened 3.
Unwilling to challenge Ye Fan, Wang Sheng confronts Tang San instead. He explains the dormitory’s rule: newcomers must fight the boss, becoming the new leader if they win or an underling if they lose. Tang San deflects his punch and slaps him hard enough to send him tumbling 4.
Ye Fan secretly uses Word Spirit through his projected inner voice to make Wang Sheng attack again. Wang Sheng cannot control the movement and tries to warn Tang San, who counters with a shoulder throw. Ye Fan then compels the other students to rush Tang San; Wang Sheng watches in confusion, unaware of the cause. After Tang San defeats the group, Wang Sheng concedes leadership 4.
Welcoming Xiao Wu
When Xiao Wu arrives, Wang Sheng explains to Tang San that Dorm Seven houses both boys and girls because its residents are children receiving tuition-free work-study education. Asked to deal with the newcomer, he instead upholds the fighting rule, asks for her name and Martial Soul, and pushes Tang San forward to face her 4.
Xiao Wu defeats Tang San and subsequently becomes the students’ boss. Wang Sheng then invites her, Ye Fan, and Tang San to the dining hall at his expense 5 6 7.
Confronting Xiao Chenyu
During the meal, Xiao Chenyu and his followers mock the work-study students and harass Xiao Wu. Encouraged by his three new powerful allies, Wang Sheng stands up and angrily tells Xiao Chenyu to stop, declaring that Xiao Wu is their boss. The confrontation is interrupted by Yu Xiaogang’s arrival 7.
