Background / History

Mosheng Fei spent his first six years in Douluo largely obscure and without significant karmic connections. Both of his parents were dead, and his remaining money ran out shortly after he began exposing history. His initial Martial Soul assessment left him discouraged: Su Yuntao judged his pen useless for combat and his rank-three innate soul power insufficient for major achievement 1 3 4.

The appearance of the Exposure System revealed that his pen could manipulate creation and causality. Retaining hypermnesia from his previous life, he used his knowledge of Douluo’s history to select events for exposure. His first Gate of Time and Space took him to Tang San’s birth and the confrontation between Tang Hao and Spirit Hall 1.

Appearance

  • Clothing: Long white robes, maintaining a scholar-like presentation even when confronting the Divine Realm 1 25 26.
  • Hair and features: Long black hair, fair skin, handsome features, bright eyes, and white teeth 1.
  • Youthful appearance: Qian Renxue is surprised by how young he looks despite addressing him as a senior. He explains that time has no effect on him 22.
  • Concealment: Often remains invisible or hidden within a faint golden glow that appears to isolate him from the surrounding world 5 6 16.
  • Assumed form: Atonement and the Tang San Karmic Substitute allow him to adopt Tang San’s face and manifest Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer 21 26.

Personality

Mosheng Fei is ambitious, irreverent, and openly delighted by opportunities to cause trouble. He initially treats historical exposure as a means of overcoming his poor talent and collecting rewards, demanding far more than the seven-level increase granted by his first success. Scapegoat makes him bolder by reducing his fear of retaliation 1 3 6.

His claim to be an impartial chronicler is deliberately undercut by his conduct. He investigates the future before reporting on it, but also invents explanations, manipulates presentation, and assigns blame to Tang San when a direct causal connection remains uncertain. He knowingly spends temporary, pen-created currency despite its eventual reversion 2 5 7 8 10.

He is intensely vindictive when threatened. Before Asura Tang San attacks him, he prefers keeping Tang San alive for repeated exposure rewards; afterward, he commits himself to killing him and making every era of his life suffer 16 20.

His protection of allies coexists with calculated manipulation. He saves Huo Yun’er’s soul but delays her reunion with Huo Yuhao so that the boy retains his hatred and recognizes his enemy. He also shields Huo Yuhao and Qian Renxue from the gods, while chastising Yuhao for recklessly endangering them 23 25.

Despite admiring Qian Renxue and other beautiful women, he distinguishes attraction from love and refuses to let it override his priorities. His caution extends to keeping his actual body from meeting people who truly exist outside the protected setting he controls 27.

Abilities & Skills

Shengfei Pen

A causal-type Martial Soul whose description encompasses creation, historical writing, fabricated cause and effect, and the manipulation of reputations 1.

  • Form: Resembles a white-jade brush with white bristles, summoned through converging golden light 1.
  • Creation and alteration: Can create something from nothing and alter existing matter 1 3 4.
  • Historical presentation: Turns written accounts into images visible across three worlds and eras; Mosheng Fei can deliberately obscure faces and scenery 1 5.
  • Causal barriers: Writes a golden “Block” character that stops Sea God Tang San and War God Dai Mubai from intervening in Huo Yuhao’s confrontation with his future self 25.

Fine Pen Alters Fate

The Shengfei Pen’s first soul skill alters objects and manifests what he draws 4 21.

  • Turns a roadside stone into gold and reproduces Gold Soul Coins from a genuine coin used as a template 4 5.
  • His first karmic ring initially lets him perceive everything within ten meters, reduce it to dust, and re-form it; that range expands as his soul power increases 3.
  • Creations are restricted by soul power, distance, and time. His counterfeit coins eventually revert when their duration or distance limits are exceeded 5 21.

World Cause

The Shengfei Pen’s second soul skill can alter the world’s cause and effect and manifest the result 21.

  • Mosheng Fei considers it an enhanced counterpart to his first skill, suited to working with the World Painting 21.
  • Uses soul karma substitution to exchange Huo Yun’er’s soul for another soul without the observers noticing 23.

Gate of Time and Space

A doorway drawn in the void that permits travel between dates, locations, and eras 1 6.

  • His first gate exhausts all of his rank-three soul power 1.
  • An incorrect landmark sends him to a random location instead of the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion 6.
  • The World Will can obstruct the gate and strand him in time during a world event 9.
  • World Will empowerment later gives him densely detailed temporal anchors labeled with dates and timelines 14.
  • He can enter history that has already occurred, but cannot simply view the unknown future produced by his own changes 22.

Observer

Allows him to watch historical events while concealed and normally protected from interference 5 15.

  • Uses it while observing Tang San’s Martial Soul awakening 5.
  • Its protection fails in the Divine Realm: Tang Wutong sees him, and Asura Tang San can attack him 15.

Scapegoat: Karmic and Damage Substitution

His second Martial Soul appears as a black sheep surrounded by black karmic power. It transfers karma, sins, damage, and other negative effects to another target 5 15.

  • Its world-bestowed first ring allows a person within Douluo who already has a karmic connection to him to take his place in death 16.
  • When direct substitution against a God King proves beyond his strength, he targets the weaker Tang San of the Douluo I Era instead 15.
  • Transferred wounds also affect Tang San’s later divine incarnation; Mosheng Fei attributes this to injuries propagating through causality 16 26.
  • Karmic attacks can cross the Gate of Time and Space, bringing the Asura Blood Sword or Sea God Trident into another era 20 27.

Atonement

Scapegoat’s second soul skill lets him choose whose sins to bear and obtain one hundred percent of that person’s strength 21.

  • Combined with the Tang San Karmic Substitute, reproduces Tang San’s appearance and Martial Souls 21.
  • Activates it against Three Realms Asura Judgment, transforming his body and Martial Souls as he declares that Tang San will bear the karma 26.

World Painting

A world-class painting containing a small world and capable of reflecting people, soul beasts, and other contents of the surrounding world 21.

  • Draws Qian Renxue into it in spirit while her body remains in the Angel Temple 21 22.
  • Within the Painting World, its inhabitants cannot harm him; he is immune to injury and the erosion of time 22.
  • Stores Huo Yun’er’s rescued soul 23.
  • Provides Huo Yuhao with a painting body he can enter mentally, allowing contact with Qian Renxue across eras 27.

Exposure System

Grants rewards according to the events exposed, their credibility, and the people affected 1 2.

  • Rewards include soul power, Martial Souls, soul rings, a soul bone, techniques, and world-class items 3 5 6 21.
  • Can require the completion of a world-event record rather than immediately issue a reward 9.
  • Mosheng Fei notices that its rewards complement the World Will’s rewards, but their exact relationship remains unresolved 21.

Memory and Inherited Techniques

  • Hypermnesia: Retains detailed memories of books, recorded events, and Douluo history from his previous life 1.
  • Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye: Receives these among the inheritances awarded for causing Tang San’s death; their individual applications are not demonstrated in the supplied passages 21.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit soul bone — Reward for exposing Xiao Wu’s true identity. Its specific abilities and absorption are not shown 6.
  • Immortal Herb Compendium — Critical exposure reward received after Tang San’s death 21.
  • Tang San Karmic Substitute — Reward that works with Atonement to reproduce Tang San’s appearance and Martial Souls 21.
  • Temporary Gold Soul Coins — Pen-created currency used to solve his financial shortage; subject to eventual reversion 5.
  • World Painting — World-class small-world item used for protected meetings, cross-era contact, and soul storage 21 23 27.

Relationships

  • Douluo World Will — Patron and collaborator against Tang San. Empowers him and asks him to guide the future Huo Yuhao away from his manipulated destiny 14.
  • Tang San — Principal enemy and recurring exposure target. Their conflict becomes personal after Asura Tang San nearly kills him; Mosheng Fei retaliates through reputation attacks and cross-era karmic damage 16 20 26 27.
  • Qian Renxue — Ally whom he brings into the World Painting and takes to witness Huo Yuhao’s history. She addresses him as a senior and later offers Yuhao cultivation guidance through the painting 21 22 27.
  • Huo Yuhao — Protégé and the World Will’s intended champion. Mosheng Fei exposes his manipulated future, protects him in the Divine Realm, and directs him toward the Sun Moon Empire 14 24 25 27.
  • Huo Yun’er — Secretly rescues her soul from Tang San’s seizure, then keeps her in the World Painting rather than immediately reuniting her with Yuhao 23.
  • Tang Wulin — Another future figure Mosheng Fei intends to bring into his campaign; direct cooperation is not yet shown 20 27.
  • Su Yuntao — Initially dismisses his talent, then praises his rank-thirteen certification and offers him entry into Spirit Hall. Mosheng Fei later learns of his death 1 4 6.
  • Xiao Wu — Exposes her as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast partly to prevent Tang San from obtaining her support so easily 6.
  • Spirit Hall and the Angel God — Beneficiaries of his revelations and allies against Tang San’s protectors; Mosheng Fei is not shown accepting formal Spirit Hall membership 4 16 18 22.

Story Role / Major Arcs

First Historical Exposures

  • Records Tang San’s rebirth and invents an Outer Realm Demonic Devil’s intervention to explain Tang Hao’s victory over Spirit Hall’s forces 2.
  • Publicizes Spirit Hall’s free awakenings, soul power tests, and monthly support, then exposes Tang San’s address and Xiao Wu’s soul-beast identity. These disclosures trigger concealment efforts, witness killings, and searches by major powers 4 5 6.

The Dark Noble Era and World Reckoning

  • Investigates the future empires beyond their prosperous capitals, documenting restricted awakening access, noble monopolies, and Evil Soul Master attacks on commoners 7 8.
  • His record awakens the World Will, which strands him in time and forces him to witness the Sun Moon Empire’s rise. He records its reversal of fortune as “the world’s reckoning” 9 10.
  • Accepts the World Will’s request to guide its future champion after recognizing that the intended child is Huo Yuhao 14.

Tang San’s Death and Replacement Rewards

  • Survives Asura Tang San’s attack through substitution, returns to the Douluo I Era, and writes accusations that help rally Spirit Hall and commoner Soul Masters against Tang San in Heaven Dou City 15 16.
  • His transferred karma brings the Asura Blood Sword across time and kills the young Tang San despite divine protection 20.
  • Rejects the gods’ proposed successor battle as a likely trial arranged for Tang San. His subsequent rewards lead him to suspect that the World Will wants him to replace Tang San 20 21.

Redirecting Huo Yuhao

  • Takes Qian Renxue to witness Yuhao’s childhood, saves Huo Yun’er’s soul, and exposes the future in which Yuhao returns to the Dai clan and becomes Tang San’s son-in-law 22 23 24.
  • Underestimates the boy’s reaction: young Yuhao attacks his future divine self with a dagger. Mosheng Fei blocks the intervening gods, reprimands him, and shields both companions when the Divine Realm mobilizes 24 25.
  • Declares war on the Divine Realm, turns Tang San’s trident strike back on him, and activates Atonement against the combined divine attack 25 26.

Return to Sea God Island

  • Gives Yuhao access to the Painting World and advises him to seek the Sun Moon Empire rather than follow his original path into Tang San’s sphere of influence 27.
  • Returns unseen to the Douluo I Era, writes Tang San’s resurrection into the Annals of Time, and follows it with a future-derived Sea God Trident strike 27.
