Seeing Ning Chuan look his way, Dai Mubai was puzzled and asked, "I don't think we know each other, do we?"
"But I know you!"
Ning Chuan's tone was indifferent. "Dai Mubai, prince of the Star Luo Empire. Unable to defeat the eldest prince, Dai Weisi, you fled to the Heaven Dou Empire and joined Shrek Academy to save your own skin!"
Dai Mubai's expression turned cold. "You investigated me?"
Ning Chuan nodded. "My little sister joined Shrek. Naturally, I had to investigate the people around her!"
Ning Rongrong was stunned. She had grown up with Ning Chuan, yet she had never seen this side of him.
Dai Mubai continued, "So? Why did you single me out?"
"To make you apologize to my sister, of course!" Ning Chuan said.
"On what grounds?" Dai Mubai demanded.
"On the grounds that you laid hands on my sister, spoke disrespectfully to her, and hurled filthy insults at her!" Ning Chuan said coldly.
Hearing this, Dai Mubai immediately recalled how Ning Rongrong had mocked him for being unable to win Zhu Zhuqing over. He had indeed hurled filthy insults at Ning Rongrong and laid hands on her.
Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Oscar had all been there. None of them had expected Ning Chuan to know about it.
Ning Rongrong was puzzled too. She had never told anyone about this, and she did not understand how her fifth brother knew.
Ning Rongrong knew Ning Fengzhi had sent people to watch over her, but she was certain that if Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo had known about this, they would never have let her suffer such mistreatment.
"Fifth Brother, did you send people to watch over me in secret too?" Ning Rongrong asked.
Ning Chuan nodded. "That's right. Compared to the people Father sent, mine paid closer attention!"
Since he knew the plot, this was the only explanation he could give Ning Rongrong.
"Let's leave that aside for now. Your fifth brother will get you justice first!" As Ning Chuan spoke, he pulled Ning Rongrong to his side.
Then he looked at Dai Mubai again. "Well? Dai Mubai!"
Dai Mubai stubbornly retorted, "She provoked me first!"
"Heh!" Ning Chuan sneered. "If I remember correctly, all my sister said was that you couldn't win Miss Zhu Zhuqing over!"
"She's your fiancée, yet all you cared about was saving your own skin, even fleeing your engagement. Have you ever considered what she went through to get here?"
"You wouldn't treat her sincerely, and when my sister made one little remark about it, you fell apart?"
"Is this how a prince of the Star Luo Empire was raised? Hurling filthy insults at a twelve-year-old girl, even using force to bully her! No wonder you can't beat Dai Weisi. Visiting brothels at such a young age, behaving without a shred of decency, bullying the weak and fearing the strong, clinging to life and dreading death!"
Ning Chuan's relentless barrage left Dai Mubai red-faced, unable to refute a single word.
Beside them, Zhu Zhuqing gave Ning Chuan a grateful glance.
Ning Chuan had said all this merely to expose Dai Mubai's true nature, but to Zhu Zhuqing, his words meant something different.
She realized that someone finally understood the wrongs she had suffered, and had even spoken of them in front of so many people.
At that moment, Zhu Zhuqing suddenly envied Ning Rongrong for having such a wonderful brother.
Xiao Wu felt the same way. She glanced at Tang San and thought, If someone wronged me, Third Brother would surely stand up for me just like Ning Chuan!
Dai Mubai was now isolated and helpless. Everything Ning Chuan had said was true. Even if Flender and the others wanted to help him, they could find no grounds to speak up.
"Hey, stop playing dead. If you did something wrong, own up to it. You should be grateful it was Ning Chuan who came. If His Eminence Sword Douluo hadn't been delayed by something and had to come a little later, do you think you'd still have the chance to stand here arguing with Ning Chuan?" Meng Yiran interjected.
As spectators, Dragon Duke, Snake Granny, and Meng Yiran naturally had no objection to stirring up more trouble for a better show.
"Sword Grandpa came too?" Ning Rongrong should have been happy to hear that Sword Douluo had come, but she knew how much he doted on her. If he learned that she had been bullied, he really might attack Dai Mubai.
At the mention of Sword Douluo, the expressions of Flender, Zhao Wuji, and even Yu Xiaogang changed. Flender immediately sent Dai Mubai a mental message. "Mubai, a wise man knows when to bend with the times. Just apologize to Rongrong!"
Dai Mubai also knew that Shrek Academy could not afford to offend a Titled Douluo, so he could only back down and apologize to Ning Rongrong. "Rongrong, I'm sorry. I acted on impulse before. I hope you can forgive me!"
Ning Rongrong nodded, accepting his apology.
No one noticed the subtle change in Xiao Wu's expression when she heard that Sword Douluo was also near Suotuo City.
She knew that a Titled Douluo could see through her identity as a soul beast, so she immediately grew worried.
She stared toward the academy's main gate, terrified that Sword Douluo might suddenly come through it.
After apologizing, Dai Mubai straightened and said to Ning Chuan, "Satisfied?"
Ning Chuan said nothing, merely shaking his head lightly.
Seeing this, Dai Mubai immediately demanded, "What else do you want?"
"I want you to kneel and apologize!" Ning Chuan said coldly.
"Not a chance!" Dai Mubai would never accept such humiliation.
The others from Shrek also began trying to dissuade him. Oscar said, "Ning Chuan, isn't that going too far? Boss Dai has already admitted he was wrong, and Rongrong has forgiven him. What more do you want?"
After speaking, Oscar signaled Ning Rongrong with his eyes, hoping she would persuade Ning Chuan.
"Fifth Brother, why don't we let it go?" Ning Rongrong said.
After their trip to the Star Dou Great Forest, the Shrek Seven Devils had begun getting along better. Ning Rongrong was delighted that Ning Chuan was standing up for her, but she did not want his relationship with Shrek to become too strained.
It was not that she was overflowing with saintly compassion. Rather, she knew very well that these people from Shrek were all geniuses.
She did not want Ning Chuan to make enemies because of her, especially several enemies with extraordinary potential for growth.
"Rongrong, you forgave Dai Mubai because you're kind. But as your brother, I won't stand by and watch my sister suffer such mistreatment!" As Ning Chuan spoke, he turned his gaze on Oscar.
"Oscar, I know you. A food-type soul master with innate full soul power-you are indeed a genius. You have feelings for my sister, and as long as Rongrong has no objections, I won't oppose it. But what right do you have to ask Rongrong to forgive Dai Mubai?"
"Let me ask you this. When Dai Mubai bullied Rongrong, you were right beside her, weren't you?"
"As her classmate, you just watched Rongrong get bullied by someone with stronger soul power than hers?"
"As a man, you just stood there watching Dai Mubai verbally abuse the girl you like?"
Another barrage from Ning Chuan instantly silenced Oscar.
Meng Yiran found the sight immensely satisfying. She still remembered that the first soul ring Tang San had snatched from her had ended up being absorbed by Oscar.
"Tsk, tsk. Such talent, but what a shame he's spineless. Little Sister Rongrong, you'd better keep your eyes open. Someone like him doesn't deserve you at all!" Meng Yiran still had no qualms about fanning the flames for a better show.
Oscar fell silent, and Ma Hongjun actually stepped in to play the peacemaker.
With an awkward chuckle, he said, "Brother Ning, look, you've vented your anger today. Why don't we leave it at that? Rest assured, from now on, we at Shrek Academy absolutely won't let Ning Rongrong suffer the slightest mistreatment."
Ning Chuan swept him a glance. "Ma Hongjun, you're cut from the same cloth as Dai Mubai. Don't come out here and make a spectacle of yourself!"
Ning Chuan lashed out at anyone he caught in his sights. Ma Hongjun was no decent fellow to begin with, and since he had put himself in the line of fire, Ning Chuan naturally would not let him off.
