After several days of taking a roundabout route, Ye Han and Zhang Qingshan lay concealed beneath an enormous ruined building several hundred zhang tall.
Before them lay a vast depression amid the ruins. It did not look naturally formed, but rather blasted out by some terrifying spell. Fully a hundred li across, it formed an exceptionally level hollow with a remarkably smooth floor.
Deep within the depression rose a four-sided, trapezoidal building that occupied half its area, with most of the structure buried beneath the ground.
Its surface appeared to be built from enormous blocks of mountain rock, and strands of mysterious, profound rune light encircled the entire structure. On either side of the trapezoidal building, a staircase led upward to an entrance that protruded like an ear.
That should have been the entrance to the building.
To construct such an enormous building under the terrifying gravity of the Three Heavens was an extraordinary feat.
Moreover, Heaven and Earth spiritual energy and formations still protected the building.
Looking closely, they could see streams of Heaven and Earth spiritual energy flowing incessantly into the building from above. No wonder the spiritual energy in the Three Heavens was so depleted-this thing had been absorbing it all.
Ye Han and Zhang Qingshan both knew from experience that casting spells in the Three Heavens consumed several times, or even more than ten times, the usual spell power, depending on the spell.
By the same principle, setting up and using formations also consumed Heaven and Earth spiritual energy and spell power, and that consumption was equally terrifying.
Ye Han had always felt that the severe depletion of spiritual energy in a place as renowned as the Three Heavens was abnormal.
Now it seemed this enormous trapezoidal building had absorbed it all.
The two remained concealed
