It could be said that this past month had truly been an ordeal for her. She had received not even the slightest response, and everything seemed to point toward one terrible outcome.
He was dead.
She really did dislike that man. He was frivolous and overbearing; they had barely known each other, yet he acted as though he saw right through her, telling her what to do. It was infuriating.
But...
Just as he had said.
When she lay forgotten in the Deep Sea, he was the only one who would remember her...
She took a deep breath.
She shook her head.
Then, at last, she returned to the temporary shelter she had built, lay down on her side, and closed her eyes, ready to sleep again.
Time slowly passed.
As usual, she soon entered a meditative state, simulating the surging and ebbing tides in her mind.
But just then.
Suddenly.
Her eyes snapped open in shock. She did not know whether she was imagining it, but she seemed to have suddenly heard a familiar whisper in her mind, exactly like the whispers she had heard for those two thousand years.
Once again, it rippled through her mind.
"My god?!"
At that moment.
She rushed outside, her eyes filled with urgency and disbelief as she scanned her surroundings.
(Unintelligible distant whispers)
Like the waves of the sea.
As though echoing from the deepest reaches of that pitch-black Abyss, growing clearer and closer.
Every pore on her body seemed to open.
Yes!
That was the voice!
She did not know why it sounded a little strange, as though it were stuttering.
But it was unmistakably familiar!
Had they already descended into Hell? Had her god sensed her and begun calling to her? Had her god awakened from that confusion of language?!
