Silver Fantasy stared at him in a daze.
Of course she knew all this.
It was the most basic lesson anyone had to master when first studying machinery.
Take the simplest program, for instance: configure a machine-gun turret to monitor everything within its range. If the target was a Mechanical Unit, it would hold its fire. If it wasn't, it would immediately pull the trigger and blanket the area with gunfire.
"What you're trying to say is..."
Lynn nodded and said solemnly:
"If machines can do it, then why can't the omnipresent rules all around us?"
Silver Fantasy suddenly shuddered, feeling a chill wash over her.
"That's absurd..."
The words slipped out instinctively.
Ordinary people would never think along those lines. Everything in the world and its rules existed objectively; no one would compare them to man-made machines.
And what Lynn meant was even more radical and far-reaching than manipulating rules.
He wanted to establish higher rules for the rules themselves!
Lynn said quietly:
"It's only a possibility, an idea. But I was thinking, if we could really make this happen... then this cumbersome machine would come alive. Wouldn't the entire Main Universe come alive too?"
Establish higher rules for the rules, grant them greater authority and capabilities, instead of leaving them to maintain the existence of all things in the same stagnant, rigid way as before.
Those beings of Chaos that intruded, those Polluters that invaded!
Since you don't conform to the order and rules of our world, you must pay the price. You must face the greatest rejection and assault our world can muster!
Every stretch of space beneath your feet.
The wind you feel, the scenery you see, the things you touch.
Everything you experience in this world will be your enemy!
