Time flew by.
The next day, black mist billowed through Dark Night City, where devastation lay scattered inside and outside its walls. After an entire day of chaos, the Origins in the city finally settled down for a brief respite.
But just as the first lamp lit up that morning, an early-rising Night Doctor faintly spotted a black-robed figure hovering at the very top of the High Tower, high above the city's steaming black mist. A long blade hung at his waist, barely visible through the fog.
And just as he was wondering what was going on.
The black-robed figure extended his hand, and an incredibly intricate wheel of laws instantly appeared before his palm.
BOOM!
An enormous blast thundered out.
A massive explosion erupted in the Flesh District.
He turned.

The Mechanical District was struck by terrifying beams of divine light at the same time, shaking the earth.
Then came the Cursecraft District, the magic district, the Central Plaza, and the camps where the various Origins rested outside the city walls. Brutal, terrifying explosions erupted in all of them at once.
For a moment, piercing alarms filled the sky.
But after orders came through, they abruptly stopped.
Because, clearly.
Dark Night City was not under enemy attack.
The Origins who had only just joined Dark Night City were blasted into soot-covered wrecks in their respective districts. Roaring furiously, they charged out of their lodgings to find out what had happened.
