It bewitched the mind, striking straight at the vulnerabilities and fears buried deepest within the heart.
Even without his Matriarch's warning, the memories of the Violet Great Lord he had once viewed contained some experiences of this place.
In the days of the Old World, this had been the boundary between the world of order and Chaos Deep Space. The Nether Sea flowed through here into Chaos Deep Space, and the waters along this boundary would draw out reflections of the mind.
"Is this what you think I'm afraid of?"
Lynn smiled faintly and adjusted his mask.
"The approaching apocalypse? Ultimate failure? Dark Night City reduced to a wasteland?"
He had to admit.
It was indeed accurate.
But an illusion was an illusion. Placing the most terrifying outcome before him would only ignite his determination to change everything. Making him hesitate was impossible.
Lynn abruptly raised his head, intending to sense the laws and shatter the illusion outright.
Boom-
The surrounding space surged.
The scene before him dissolved into foam, and billowing mist appeared before his eyes once more.
He charged forward without hesitation.
"Matriarch! Aivier! Can you hear me?!"
Lynn shouted.
He extended his perception, searching through the mist.
But no one answered him.
He looked at his left hand. A thought struck him, and he called softly:
"Zuo Zuo, can you hear me?"
His left hand remained motionless. Like an ordinary left hand, it showed no response whatsoever.
"Am I still inside an illusion?"
Lynn frowned.
He tried opening his System Space and the Strange Otherworld.
"Clown! Are you there?!"
The Strange Otherworld was empty. Only the Flesh Ark he had captured remained where it had been, but Clown, whom he had thrown into the Strange Otherworld, was nowhere to be seen.
Lynn sensed that something was wrong.
