And because of that incident, over the past month, several Demigods had led a series of internal investigations, hoping to root out more of the traitors hiding among them.
But they had achieved little.
And the distrust gradually spreading within their ranks gave those Corrupted an opening.

A tremendous explosion rocked all of Dark Night City Square.
A Night Doctor wearing a Plague Doctor Mask had blown himself up while being pursued, intending to use the corruptive power within his body to blast a breach in the Divine Temple at the Central Plaza.
"How many casualties?! Is everyone all right?"
"A dozen or so dead, and several more critically injured. Damn it! He shouldn't have been a traitor! I knew him. He became a Night Doctor hundreds of years ago. Just a few days ago, I was on duty with him. How could he be... damn it!!"
In the square, several Night Doctors stared with bloodshot eyes, their fury almost tearing them apart.
This was already the seventh such vicious incident in recent days, and it had happened among their most elite Night Doctors.
