Lynn secretly breathed a sigh of relief, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly.
But he knew.
Although the quest was complete.
Now was not the time to complain about the system.
"Of course it makes sense, because every word I say is reasonable!" Lynn sat ramrod straight with a solemn expression.
Rustle-
The female ghost's split face slowly closed, and she withdrew her sticky tentacles into her body one by one, once again taking on the appearance of a graceful, mature woman.
Her eyes widened as she clasped her hands before her chest, watching the adorable baby in Lynn's arms.
For a moment, she actually seemed nervous.
"I... I, um..."
She avoided the baby's innocent gaze, looking as awkward as a young woman newly married.
"Here, give your own baby a hug," Lynn said solemnly.
The female ghost bashfully turned her head away, not daring to look at the baby, and hesitantly reached out both hands.
Seeing this, Lynn acted.
Without another word, he placed the adorable baby straight into the female ghost's arms.
"Yada~"
The Ghost Infant wrapped her arms around the female ghost's neck with a (๑>︶<)و expression, sticking out her little tongue and licking her cheeks with little slurping sounds, leaving trails of moisture on her face.
The female ghost stood there stiffly, dazed, letting the daughter in her arms lick her affectionately.
Clearly.
She had never experienced anyone being so affectionate with her before.
The Ghost Infants formed from fragments that had fallen off her body had all been so vicious that they killed almost any living creature they saw.
They had even treated her the same way. Not a single Evil Spirit had truly regarded her as its mother.
"How does it feel?" Lynn asked earnestly and solemnly.
"Don't you suddenly feel a surge of joy and sweetness from the bottom of your heart?"
The female ghost held the baby stiffly, still dazed. "I'm not really used to it..."
Lynn nodded, giving her a thumbs-up as he said solemnly, "That's normal. Being a normal mother for the first time often leaves you feeling a little helpless, just like how having sex for the first time makes you feel awkward. It's the same principle."
"..."
After a long while, the female ghost finally shook her head hard, regaining her cold expression as she held the baby.
"Hmph! You silver-tongued brat, don't think a few pretty words can change the fact that my child became different here!"
"I live right next door now. If I ever take an interest in you, I'll sneak in late at night and eat you."
"Yada~~" With a (๑>︶<)و expression, the adorable baby gave the female ghost's cheek another slurping lick.
The female ghost immediately went blank again.
"J-just you wait!"
Keeping a smile on his face, Lynn watched the alluring woman carry the Ghost Infant out of the shop, sweat pouring off him.
Once she had left, Lynn finally breathed a sigh of relief and slumped into his chair.
"This won't do," Lynn muttered to himself. "Looks like I need to improve my combat abilities as soon as possible. If this happens again, I might not be this lucky..."
Besides, the female ghost had already said it.
She would come looking for him again!
Although he had successfully dispelled her hostility today, there was no telling when she might act on a whim and actually sneak in at night to finish him off on the spot.
"I can only wait until tonight. My teacher should be back soon!"
Lynn steadied himself.
Then he opened his system storage and took out the special reward he had just received.
[Infectious Aura] [Quality]: Rare passive skill [Description]: When attempting persuasion, has a high chance of increasing the target's receptiveness and reducing their hostility. [Attribute bonus]: Soothing proficiency permanently +1
It was actually a skill!
Lynn carefully read through the description.
He roughly understood what the skill did.
In other words.
When he gave a target psychological counseling or did something similar, it would increase his chances of success.
In any case.
It was a pretty decent support skill!
"Learn!"
In an instant.
The skill book transformed into a stream of light and entered his body.
A new passive skill immediately appeared on his system panel.
Time slowly passed.
Lynn continued his dull, tedious daily shift.
Knock, knock, knock-
A series of knocks came from outside the door.
The drowsy Lynn immediately perked up, putting on a professional smile as he raised his head.
"Welcome..."
A cold, sinister presence slowly seeped in from outside.
A tall, powerfully built figure appeared before Lynn.
He wore menacing, jet-black armor, with gaunt, bone-white cheeks and equally bone-white hair cascading down his back. Scarlet light flickered in his eyes.
Behind him, he led an evil spectral warhorse covered in ominous black hair.
[Black Knight] [Level]: ??? [Alignment]: Chaotic neutral [Combat abilities]: Extremely powerful offense and defense. [Description]: A death knight who roams the Dark World. Possesses an intense fighting spirit and is dedicated to challenging every powerful being in the Dark World, with an overwhelming thirst for power.
Lynn jolted.
Clearly.
Another seriously dangerous fellow had arrived!
And judging by his outfit and description, he was definitely an elite boss!
Sure enough, the Witcher had been right. All sorts of extraordinary figures really had come to the area around Wandering Soul Alley!
"I need some sufficiently powerful combat support potions."
A hoarse voice came from the Black Knight's mouth.
He took a bloodstained coin pouch from inside his armor, the coins within clinking audibly.
"You'll be well paid."
[Ding! You have triggered a quest: Prepare sufficiently powerful combat potions that satisfy the Black Knight. Quest rewards: Base experience +200, Skeleton Coins +100, Black Knight return rate +1]
At last, a reasonably normal customer!
Lynn immediately stood up, maintaining his smile.
"Please come in, sir. You've come to the right place! Our Bloodsaw Apothecary has the finest potions in all of Wandering Soul Alley!"
"Aren't you the only apothecary within several hundred miles?" the Black Knight asked hoarsely.
The Black Knight entered through the front door.
The Soul Lamp instantly began whipping about wildly.
His armor creaked with the sound of metal scraping against metal.
An oppressive presence washed over Lynn.
There was no doubt.
This was an incredibly powerful warrior!
"Sir, what kind of support potion do you need?" Lynn asked with a smile.
Then he took bottle after bottle of different potions from the counter and set them on the table.
"We stock all kinds of potions, with a wide selection. You're sure to be satisfied."
Lynn pushed one of the potions on the table toward the Black Knight.
"For example, this one."
"A strength potion. It can greatly enhance your attack power. It's one of our bestsellers. You're welcome to try it."
The Black Knight glanced at it.
He picked up the potion, sniffed it, then drained it in one gulp.
[Ding! Danger level: 10%]
"Completely useless." The Black Knight set down the potion bottle and spoke hoarsely.
"The increase this potion gives my combat abilities is practically negligible. Are you making a fool of me?"
Lynn immediately felt a powerful presence envelop him.
The pressure made his heart race.
Lynn immediately realized the danger hidden within this quest.
In other words.
If the Black Knight didn't get a potion that satisfied him, he might resort to violence?!
