Background / History

The title Witcher is used for Ocalos, a human hunter who brought two witch-hunting revolvers from the World Above into the Dark World. He has wandered the Dark World for years, surviving numerous injuries and ordinarily working without companions 13 15.

Ocalos and the Black Knight have been sworn enemies for centuries. Before the Black Knight obtained Lynn’s Critical Hit Potion, Ocalos repeatedly defeated him and openly dismissed him as an inferior opponent 31 33.

He knows that Wandering Soul Alley lies at the lowest level of the City of Sin. His advice to Lynn is that becoming strong enough is the only alternative to death that offers any chance of escaping the world 15.

Blue Star Qualification and Service

On Blue Star, Witcher is also a qualification pursued through the Supernatural General Administration. Bai Yi joins the Administration and trains for more than a month before taking a combat test involving summoned monsters and Evil Entities. Defeating low-level opponents is insufficient: the final round requires victory over a stronger enemy before he can officially become a qualified Witcher 787 788.

Bai Yi's motivation is to protect the hometown he shares with Lynn if Lynn can no longer remain there. His test takes place amid increasingly frequent supernatural incidents and Flesh God Cult activity. The examiners also regard his ability to contact his “Big Brother” in Hell as a potential safeguard against threats beyond their understanding 787 788.

An unnamed Witcher later commands soldiers during an operation in a village affected by the Flesh God Cult's activities. This bearer is not identified as Ocalos in the available account; his Blue Star operations are distinct from Ocalos's documented appearances in the Dark World 842 843 844.

Lynn’s treatment eventually breaks that resolve: he begs for anesthesia, attempts to escape, and appeals to a passing ghost for rescue 11 13.

Despite his hostility, he recognizes Lynn’s medical success, offers payment, and warns him about dangerous creatures arriving nearby. Their shared humanity matters to him; he is particularly angry when he learns that Lynn supplied the Black Knight with the potion used against him 15 32.

He professes a belief in fair trade and keeping his word, but exploits those principles to force Lynn to accept his cursed revolvers. He is also vain about his hair, although the prospect of defeating the Black Knight persuades him to sacrifice it for greater power 15 32.

Black Butterfly Treatment

Ocalos first visits Lynn with a right shoulder ravaged by Black Butterfly, a corrosive aggregate of resentment and necrotic energy that has penetrated his bones. With no nearby alternative medical shop, he reluctantly accepts surgery without anesthesia 11 12.

Lynn removes the dead flesh with heated knives, scrapes the blackened bone, and ultimately uses a chainsaw. Ocalos repeatedly loses consciousness and tries to resist. Regeneration treatment restores the shoulder, with pork filling a small remaining gap; afterward, he threatens Lynn to keep his collapse secret 12 13 14 15.

Revolver Trade and Nighttime Warning

After Lynn refuses monetary payment, Ocalos offers an item in exchange and forces him to take both cursed revolvers. He then warns Lynn not to go outside or open the door that night because formidable newcomers have arrived nearby, before disappearing in smoke 15.

Potion Arms Race

Bai Yi's Witcher Qualification

After more than a month of training, Bai Yi takes the Administration's Witcher test, fighting summoned monsters while holding the bracelet containing Lynn's living finger tissue. He endures his fear because he wants to defend their hometown on Lynn's behalf 787.

Having passed the third trial against low-level Evil Entities, he faces a stronger Aberrant summoned by the Medium. The creature, formerly a nurse whose soul was shattered, rapidly heals his attack and deeply wounds his shoulder. Bai Yi responds by invoking an ancient Latin exorcism incantation with his sword and cross-bearing bracelet. The available account does not confirm the final result of the qualification test 788.

Blue Star Cult Investigations

The Medium and Witchers review evidence that the Flesh God Cult attempted a larger ritual to summon a powerful Evil Spirit. Photographs and footage show dismembered cultists and a blood-red figure emerging from the ritual's mist to slaughter them. Bai Yi recognizes the ritual language from Lynn's world and Hell 819.

Bai Yi later accompanies Yin Qin into the evacuated village to investigate the massacre and guard her Spirit Communication ritual. The operation becomes a cult trap intended to capture him and investigate his ability to summon Lynn 830 832 835.

Village Retreat and Tentacle Capture

During the village operation, an unnamed Witcher and his soldiers confront a powerful evil spirit. Their bullets and burning blade cannot seriously injure it, but it ignores them and flees from enormous tentacled shapes emerging through the fog. The Witcher orders a retreat, and humans, the evil spirit, and departed souls cooperate to escape 842 843.

He destroys a wall to open a route, only to find tentacles and black fog blocking further passage. When an eye-bearing tentacle approaches and begins speaking, he reflexively severs its tip. The creature regenerates, captures the entire group, and lashes the Witcher while reprimanding him for attacking before listening 844.

Lynn later tells Bai Yi that he detained Administration personnel and took payment from them. After Lynn returns to Hell, Bai Yi encounters rows of naked Administration reinforcements and suspects their stripped belongings were that payment. He also resolves to take comradeship and responsibility seriously rather than disgrace his Big Brother 849.
