Lynn looked Wang Chaobei up and down with interest, taking in his Daoist robes. "That's what I was saying. How come our own Chinese turf is full of Exorcists? Surely we should have a few Daoist priests and monks too. Where did you study, mister?"
Wang Chaobei trembled and bowed with his hands clasped. "I studied at Dragon Tiger Mountain. I am its seventy-ninth Celestial Master. Wang Chaobei pays his respects to you, senior."
Lynn pressed his palms together and said earnestly, "Amitabha Buddha, Limitless Heavenly Venerable! Was that move you just used Palm Thunder? It looked really cool."
Wang Chaobei stared in astonishment, wiping the sweat pouring from his forehead. He hurriedly returned the greeting. "L-Limitless Heavenly Venerable. It was only a minor exorcism spell. N-nothing worth mentioning..."
But why would someone from Hell know greetings like Amitabha Buddha and Limitless Heavenly Venerable...?
And was it really all right for a being of such immense evil to invoke those two revered names?
Why did this whole scene feel so bizarre?!
He could clearly sense the uncanny, terrifying aura emanating from the seemingly human being before him.
"Limitless Heavenly Venerable," Lynn said earnestly. "You're mistaken, Reverend. How could our Daoist arts be nothing worth mentioning? Compared to those God worshippers, we're obviously way more badass."
Sweating profusely, Wang Chaobei said, "Er... those who take religious vows seek only to wield their swords against demons and exorcise evil spirits and ghosts. Anyone who brings blessings to others is a fellow traveler and friend. It isn't a question of being... bad... badass."
He struggled terribly to get the slang word "badass" out.
Lynn said earnestly, "You truly deserve to be a Celestial Master of our Daoist tradition. Your spiritual outlook is far above that of ordinary folk like us."
